to feel a bit sorry for Tom Cruise

Don't flame me! I'm not even a fan of the man - honest. He just seems to have the whole world of Mumsnet against him and I don't see what's wrong with him other than the Press have got it in for him.

Nicole Kidman seemed very happy when she was married to him, I remember reading an interview with her in which she talked about his kindness and how he "never went for the jugular" in arguments.

He has raised his two children with Nicole after she seemingly walked away from them. Like Peter Andre, he Really Loves His Kids.

OK so he's a Scientologist but to agnostics like me that doesn't seem any weirder than Christianity or Islam or any other religion.

So can we please have some MN love for TC?

there is a very interesting piece on scientology and the TC/KH divorce in Mark Rathburns site here. He was TCs auditor and very high up in the world of scientology before he left the cult organisation, and so you dont get much better informed. Scroll down to the 2nd or 3rd story, currently.

Part of this is that whenever a scientologist sees any bad press about TC, they should intervene and report things to moderators on whatever forum they appear.....

OP are you a scientologist?

lowfatiscrap12 · 06/07/2012 14:43

I feel sorry for him. For all we know the divorce could have nothing to do with Scientology. I've always thought he's a good guy. And whenever you read interviews with stars who've worked with TC, they all say that same: he's a good bloke. I read an interview with Simon Pegg recently and he was very complimentary about TC, having worked with him on the lates MI movie. (in which Tom did all his own stunts)
I also don't understand why everyone on Mumsnet thinks he's asexual and not very shaggable cos I think he's unbelievably sexy and I so would, come on Tom, give me a 10 year contract

NarkedRaspberry · 06/07/2012 14:44

Google it Angelico. Their view on mental health are frightening, their treatment of those who try to leave is disturbing.

I think the fact people here are afraid to speak out about here on an anonymous forum shows how worrying it clearly is.

EverybodysDoeEyed · 06/07/2012 14:45

I don't feel sorry for him

I do feel sorry for Suri. Why does her mother insist on parading her around the place when she knows the paps are going to be out in force? Did she really need to go all "look at me I'm normal now because I shop in whole foods with my kid just like other normal mums"

rainydaysarebad · 06/07/2012 14:45

Nope. He's a weirdo as far as I am aware. That sofa jumping thing introduced me to his weirdness. Why is he always casted as a action hero type character in every film? He's a dork!!

sheepsgomeeping · 06/07/2012 14:47

Ive reported my own post, think ive said too much. I seriously dont want to be stalked!

waterlego6064 · 06/07/2012 14:47

I believe it's very, very sinister too. Avon, do a Google on Scientology defectors and see what they have to say. There was an article in th New Yorker last year about a defector who was very high up in the 'church', named Paul Haggis. He had some interesting things to say about it.

The wife of the Scientology leader (David Miscavige) is, I believe, officially listed as a missing person. She apparently did some things without her husband's permission and then mysteriously disappeared about 6 years ago. The leader doesn't seem to have said much on the matter (publicly, at least).

perceptionreality · 06/07/2012 14:48

But how will they know who you are sheep?

sheepsgomeeping · 06/07/2012 14:48

Musicposy it has to be the same place doesnt it

NarkedRaspberry · 06/07/2012 14:48

It's a long running joke that if you comment negatively online about Justin Bieber and Scientologists it's a race to see which group of defenders get there fastest.

sheepsgomeeping · 06/07/2012 14:49

No idea but Im not taking any risks!

IawnCont · 06/07/2012 14:49

Love the idea that Tom Cruise must be nice because Simon Pegg says so, and because he does his own stunts! :o

perceptionreality · 06/07/2012 14:50

I assume this was not in the UK sheep?

sheepsgomeeping · 06/07/2012 14:51

Yes it was in the UK

NarkedRaspberry · 06/07/2012 14:51

For a start, and arguably very relevant to the posters on this site, they don't believe in the medical treatment of PND.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 06/07/2012 14:52

Mark Rathburn's blog makes for v interesting reading. Thanks hattifatner

FreudianSlipper · 06/07/2012 14:54

you can not compare christianity or islam to scientology as very few know the true or higher beliefs as this is deliberately kept secret to give a few power, one person with this knowledge is apparently tom cruise this puts him in a position of power, i would be planning my divorce too she must be terrified for herself and her daughter

Nancy66 · 06/07/2012 14:55

NK is very close to Isabella and sees a lot of her - she doesn't see much of Connor who is more under his dad's thumb

theDudesmummy · 06/07/2012 14:56

Could never feel sorry for him. His anti-psychiatric views alone are enough, never mind the rest...

MrGin · 06/07/2012 14:58

I feel sorry for him in the sense that he probably can't see his daughter atm and no doubt had a dismal 50th birthday.

I'm no fan of the Church of Scientology but Katie Holmes knew he was into it big time before they married.

NarkedRaspberry · 06/07/2012 14:59

Worthwhile reading.

LentillyFart · 06/07/2012 14:59

I think the OP may be aligned with Scientology - in which case he/she is the more deserving of our pity. Read that blog - there's lots to get through - I keep going back to it and it's Shock. Even if you're an atheist and consider all religion ridiculous you really can't equate Scientology with the established faiths.
