to think our neighbour is spying on me through a wall?

We live in a semi but a semi that backs onto another house, so our entire back wall is another house's entire back wall IYSWIM. So upstairs we share a wall on our bedroom, the landing and our bathroom.

The only noise I ever hear from their house is that noise of a pull switch light cord. And the only time I ever hear it is just after I go to the bathroom at night before I go to bed. Whatever the time. I never hear it before or after. Without fail it is just after I leave the bathroom. I go to bed at very random times (DH works away...). it could be 8pm, it could be 1am. Whatever time it is, I always hear that cord go within 20 seconds of me leaving the bathroom...

Uuummmmmm AIBU to think I might be being spied on..??!!! How do I find out for sure?!!

I'm interested too. I actually want to know about the noise.

Babylon1 · 06/07/2012 22:14

We need an update if you please ?Wink

PedanticPanda · 06/07/2012 22:20

I've been following this post from the start, don't listen to the spoil sports op, they don't have to come on this thread, they just want to be nasty.

HeadfirstForHalos · 06/07/2012 22:24

I for one am not bored with your thread Gnocci!

Even if it turns out to be something boring and trivial making the noise it will be good to know you feel safe :)

If people are bored they can fuck off decline to read further.

I haven't had gnocci for ages and I really fancy some now Grin

gnocci · 06/07/2012 22:29

:) I am still here.

As I say, no noise last night. DH agrees it was definitely their light pull cord. You can hear it through the wall and that sort of echo sound you only get in bathrooms.

oshock not sure what you mean by the other side of the switch?

Dh is going to do some more listening tonight.

Been debating whether to post this or not, but in a sunbed shop I know of the electrician put tiny cameras in the stand up sun booth things and recorded women getting naked basically. You would have never of known they were there, he spent a lot of time and money doing it. Before anyone asks, the cameras, nor indeed the sunbed shop, are no longer there, but it does show how clever (and werid) some role can be.

Babylon1 · 07/07/2012 09:51

Sunbeds are crazy anyway!!!! No danger of me getting camera'd on one them as I steadfastly refuse to use them!!

Wondering what gnocci's DH heard last night though!!

SoleSource · 07/07/2012 10:23

Do you feel watched all day everyday no matter where you are in your house gnocchi?

gnocci · 07/07/2012 10:38

No SS not at all. It's not as if I "feel watched" in the bathroom either. It is just super wierd with their light being pulled when I am leaving my bathroom before bed - just strange!

DH spent ages fiddling around in there last night. Couldnt find anything odd with the toilet, flush, taps, shower cord, our light switch, any of the landing light etc. He is putting it down to pure coincidence of them going to bed the same time I do!!! OR me waking them when I go to bed and them getting up for a wee (like someone above suggested).

Also confused why it is suspicious that we've never been in the loft before! We rent this house, have only lived here 8 months or so, the hatch is really high up and needs a ladder to get to. We have had no need to go in the loft as we have huge storage in the garage!

OP posts:
quoteunquote · 07/07/2012 10:47

borrow a ladder and have a look,

do you know anyone with one of these you could borrow?

Migsy1 · 07/07/2012 11:01

I've got a house I have owned for 18 months and I went into the loft for the first time only a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't carpeted but it did have a light, boarding and shelves! I decided when I moved in not to put anything in there as my philosophy is that if it is in the loft then you don't need it.

slartybartfast · 07/07/2012 11:05

can you try it when you have turned your electricity off?

SoleSource · 07/07/2012 11:11

Good idea slarty

fedup2012 · 07/07/2012 19:36

You've still not been in the loft? I'm still convinced it's old wiring connected to something else.

SoleSource · 07/07/2012 20:04

Ask you landlord.

gnocci · 07/07/2012 20:11

Already said further up thread DH went up there the other day. Quite nice apparently. Nothing unusual though.

choccyp1g · 08/07/2012 17:48

Well this thread has gained me my first deleted post! I can't remember what it said, but what I meant was a friendly "please don't go away, this thread is fun, and we want to hear more of it"

Sorry if I offended anyone....

zaba · 08/07/2012 17:57

Even more curious then!

StateofConfusion · 08/07/2012 18:23

I'm still interested too!

frustratedpants · 08/07/2012 19:08

Maybe the bathroom light is (mis)wired up to the loft light?

valiumredhead · 08/07/2012 19:29

I'm still reading!!! :)
