We live in a semi but a semi that backs onto another house, so our entire back wall is another house's entire back wall IYSWIM. So upstairs we share a wall on our bedroom, the landing and our bathroom.

The only noise I ever hear from their house is that noise of a pull switch light cord. And the only time I ever hear it is just after I go to the bathroom at night before I go to bed. Whatever the time. I never hear it before or after. Without fail it is just after I leave the bathroom. I go to bed at very random times (DH works away...). it could be 8pm, it could be 1am. Whatever time it is, I always hear that cord go within 20 seconds of me leaving the bathroom...

Uuummmmmm AIBU to think I might be being spied on..??!!! How do I find out for sure?!!

Followed this thread with interest as my ex next door neighbour was indeed spying on me - not through the wall as such, but coming down our loft hatch from the shared loft space and helping himself to whatever he wanted, usually my knickers or shoes.

Very long story but we'd had our suspicions for a while. DH did something to the loft hatch so we'd know it it had been opened from the other side and the next day while we were out, it triggered. So much stuff had been going missing and he'd said in passing to DH a few weeks before that he knew we had a stairgate because he could hear it slam - it was right under the loft hatch!

DH went next door to have it out with him and he threatened DH with a hammer. We called the police and in a nutshell, stayed with my parents for a few nights went back for 2 weeks and then moved into another house.

I have a theory. Your bathroom light operates theirs as well, only backwards. So, you turn yours off and theirs turns on. They go "oh for gods sake, that bloody light is on again!" And turn it off.

They may well be thinking they have a poltergeist!

I remember coming home from a night out years ago and opening my cupboard to hang something up.... only to find my flat mate standing silently inside! I must have been pissed as I didn't scream, but asked him what the hell he was doing. He burst into tears and said he was having problems with his gf. Still don't understand why that made him stand in my cupboard.

I have just read the whole of this thread and I am bursting to know what happened! Surely Gnocchi will be MNing during night feeds soon and will be able to give us an update .

Even if it's a really mundane explanation Gnocchi, please just put us out of our misery!
