I hear of this relatively often.
JUST DON'T DO IT.

Yes, takingItEasy, One I don't live with due to all the crap that women are "supposed" to do, which to my knowledge (getting a bit of an old bird now) and I've been around the block so to speak, is never really equal Sad.

takingiteasy · 29/06/2012 15:09

Just realised I buy dh's socks, the ones I wash! What a fucking lame little woman I am!

takingiteasy · 29/06/2012 15:10

So you won't live with a man because of this? Don't you think he'd take on some jobs, you would share the load?

MissFaversam · 29/06/2012 15:10

What has being a Company Director got to do with it? Does it make him really important? Sounds odd that a company director can't dress himself

Who wants equal though? Definitely not me as I would have to do way more work same goes for most of my female friends Wink

yellowraincoat · 29/06/2012 15:11

Honestly, I'm sure you all have situations that work for you. But I can't help feeling some of your partners are taking you for a ride.

I mean, if you DIDN'T buy their socks, what would they do? Just go around with holey socks, in my experience. Or just buy more themselves.

All well and good if everything is really 50/50, but it never really seems to be.

MIL would buy them, then kick up merry hell because I'm not looking after her PFB properly.

Whatmeworry · 29/06/2012 15:15

Packing for your DH is just bizarre

IMO both os packing, both of us getting Euros, both of us servicing the car is more bizarre. Sharing the tasks doesn't mean splitting every task in 2.

If its a power thing, that different.

namechangeguy · 29/06/2012 15:15

Some people in here are on a wind-up. I am surprised it has got to 16 pages. There should be a big wooden spoon smiley on here - you know, one used for stirring things with Grin....

yellowraincoat · 29/06/2012 15:16

Yes, he's perfectly capable of being responsible for his job that he gets all the credit for, but when it comes to the boring household tasks, he will leave it up to the little woman because he's faaaar too important.

Sounds great. What decade is it again?

Moominsarescary · 29/06/2012 15:16

Agree with Molly and no yellow defenatly not 50/50 in this relationship, I'm pretty sure dp does far more than me.

miss maybe that has more to do with the men you choose than men in general

I'm sure he would buy his own socks, in fact he did not so long ago but generally I make a couple of trips to primark a year. I stock up on socks, pants etc for all of us whilst I'm there. It would be totally ridiculous for me to be there with the socks in front of me and go 'no, the bastard should buy his own!'

yellowraincoat · 29/06/2012 15:18

It's not really about making a point.

It wouldn't cross my mind to buy someone else's socks.

But then I never go shopping anyway. If I happened across a pair of socks in Primark maybe I'd buy them for him. But I certainly wouldn't do it as standard.

Taking it easy, they're sadly a rare breed (can only speak from what I've learned in my 50 years) DS is going to be one of them though

yellowraincoat · 29/06/2012 15:18

Yay. Again, what decade is it?

Yellow, don't tell me it's time to chain ourselves to the railings AGAIN Sad

MissFaversam · 29/06/2012 15:24

LeQueen you do know that if you combust it will make a mighty mess for the poor cleaner.

molly3478 · 29/06/2012 15:31

Yellow - The way I see it is I would rather do things like that for dh or organise all the money than have to do loads of horrible extra hard work like he has to.I know I have the much better deal by a mile so I do more organisational stuff.Although as I said dh has packed for me before. My husband has it a lot worse than me
