OK so it's half term, for a treat I said to the DCs (12 & 14) that we'd go to pizza hut buffet for lunch, they were thrilled. However all the way there they were tittering at some private joke which they refused to share with me. Turns out they went there yesterday with their dad (we're divorced) but they conspired not to tell me because they knew we would have gone somewhere else if I'd known (am not a great PH fan).

I'm so cross, have sent them to the cashpoint with their teenaccount cashcards to get a tenner each to pay me back! Am wondering now if I've overreacted.

AIBU to make them pay for the lunch?

Yes. If it was a half term treat you wanted to give them then why should it matter?

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2012 16:06

You are a meanpants. Sad

Petsinmypudenda · 06/06/2012 16:06

YABU

You cant make them pay for a treat just because their dad took them aswell.

WorraLiberty · 06/06/2012 16:07

Yes of course you've overreacted

You said it was a treat

They love PH so why would it matter if they went there yesterday or not?

LeeCoakley · 06/06/2012 16:07

You meanie!!!!

LST · 06/06/2012 16:07

YABU IMO.

ChocolateTeacup · 06/06/2012 16:07

You said they would have a treat, then because your ex husband did the same one, you punished them for it?! Yabu, its not their fault he chose the same thing and they enjoyed it anyway.

Why didnt you ask what they had done yesterday?

MacaroniSaysShetlandPony · 06/06/2012 16:07

It was their treat, not your treat. YABU (and give them back their ££)

SpottyTeacakes · 06/06/2012 16:08

Definitely mean!!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 06/06/2012 16:08

Yep YABU!

TheMonster · 06/06/2012 16:08

YABU.

GnocchiNineDoors · 06/06/2012 16:08

Why on earth does it matter if their DDad took them yesterday and you took them today? Pizza two days in a row is not going to kill them.

IF you asked them what they had for dinner yesterday (before the PH convo) and they lied, then punish that, but otherwise you are a meanie.

sixlostmonkeys · 06/06/2012 16:09

aww poor kids. I bet they were enjoying their treat too :(

LucieMay · 06/06/2012 16:09

Yabu.

FantasticDay · 06/06/2012 16:09

YABU. When I read the subject line, I thought they'd used a fraudulent credit card or something! They didn't deceive you. You just didn't ask if they'd already been to PH!

thatisall · 06/06/2012 16:09

I think you are just mad that they had a private joke about you no?

You should have just laughed it off IMO

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2012 16:10

I thought they had smuggled the whole salad bar into their pockets. Grin

usualsuspect · 06/06/2012 16:10

For real?

GrahamTribe · 06/06/2012 16:10

Now I'm considered very strict but even I think YABU!

Sirzy · 06/06/2012 16:11

Yabu, give them their money back.

usualsuspect · 06/06/2012 16:11

Where would you have gone instead, McDonalds?

Pancakeflipper · 06/06/2012 16:11

Meanie - just give them gruel for lunch tomorrow and all is fair.

DysonsAreForever · 06/06/2012 16:11

Awww they've come back with a can of coke and my fave chocolate bar for me, as well as the £20. I think it was just the not telling me that made me livid.

Petsinmypudenda · 06/06/2012 16:12

But why did they have to tell you. It was a treat for them not for you.

thatisall · 06/06/2012 16:12

give them back the 20 quid then :-)
