OK so it's half term, for a treat I said to the DCs (12 & 14) that we'd go to pizza hut buffet for lunch, they were thrilled. However all the way there they were tittering at some private joke which they refused to share with me. Turns out they went there yesterday with their dad (we're divorced) but they conspired not to tell me because they knew we would have gone somewhere else if I'd known (am not a great PH fan).

I'm so cross, have sent them to the cashpoint with their teenaccount cashcards to get a tenner each to pay me back! Am wondering now if I've overreacted.

AIBU to make them pay for the lunch?

Well it's spoilt now anyway

DysonsAreForever · 06/06/2012 16:13

I'd have gone to a nice indian buffet!

I assume that they know you wouldn't have taken them to Pizza Hut IF YOU'D KNOWN they'd been the day before. If your ex P's anything like my DH he'd let the DC's live on pizzas and similar which is very annoying.
Anyway, it's very rude of your DC to be sniggering between themselves.
At least next time you'll know to ask them first... as Teacup said.

ScarlettInSpace · 06/06/2012 16:15

fair do's you got a chocolate bar out of them, I wouldn't take their money though, you must be able to see the funny side now you've calmed down a bit little gits lol Grin

GnocchiNineDoors · 06/06/2012 16:15

I think you should either give back the £20 or treat them to something nice with it.

kilmuir · 06/06/2012 16:15

Why is it deception?

FantasticDay · 06/06/2012 16:15

Have you given them their money back?

wrathomum · 06/06/2012 16:15

Oops, I see that the DCs know you wouldn't have taken them. Very sneaky of them. I'd be annoyed too.

WilsonFrickett · 06/06/2012 16:17

Och, take the choc and give them their money back. You know you're overreacting.

Mrsjay · 06/06/2012 16:19

OTT ! why was it deception they were a bit cheeky because dad had taken them but to make them pay is a bit mean,

LaurieFairyCake · 06/06/2012 16:19

Yes, it's very rude of them. I wouldn't have taken them until they told me what they were laughing at.

valiumredhead · 06/06/2012 16:21

Oh come on, it was cheeky and one of those things you will laugh about in years to come when they are older. Give them their money back - you wanted to treat them and you did Confused

Cockwomble · 06/06/2012 16:22

WTF? Poor kids.

Paiviaso · 06/06/2012 16:29

YABU, and the most childish person at that lunch.

GitAwfMayLend · 06/06/2012 16:34

If you don't give them that £20 back for being nice kids you are a mean old mean meanie who's just being mean.

GitAwfMayLend · 06/06/2012 16:35

perhaps they have spat on the chocolate

Poulay · 06/06/2012 16:37

Poor kids :(

ErikNorseman · 06/06/2012 16:37

YABU! Give them their bloody money back you caah.

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 06/06/2012 16:39

sounds like you are cross with their dad for treating the kids to the treat YOU had chosen and you are taking it out on them.

doesn't matter if you don't really like PH you didn't eat it 2 days in a row, you have only been the once, that you had already decided yourself.

usualsuspect · 06/06/2012 16:39

I would have just laughed

Kayano · 06/06/2012 16:40

That wasn't deception! You asked them!!!

Who cares if their da took them?
Or do you like to get one up on him?

halcyondays · 06/06/2012 16:41

Yabu

madmouse · 06/06/2012 16:42

I hope this is a joke? If it is not a wind-up then you're definitely being unreasonable.

stealthsquiggle · 06/06/2012 16:42

Give them their money back! Yes they were a teeny bit sneaky not telling you, but the offer of a treat should not be conditional on them not having the same treat with their Dad.

The fact that they came back with treats for you as well as the money means they are being, right now, nicer than you are, IMHO.
