If the dc are asleep and the parents wanted to order a takeaway, wouldn't Indian or Chinese etc be a more obvious choice than pizza (which is often eaten with the dcs anyway)?

erm no, not uncommon. ds1 used to have a cows milk allergy so I always felt a bit guilty about having takeaway pizza infront of him. Both dc love chinese though and would go mad if they found out i'd ordered one without them eating it!

mumeeee · 05/06/2012 21:02

YABU when our DDs were younger DH and I would order take away when they were in bed, Sometimes it was pizza, other times Chinese or Indian, We had it when they were in bed so that we could have time together eating a nice meal and didn't have to bother geting a babysitter.

glitterstar88 · 05/06/2012 21:09

Lolajane - Eating pizza doesn't mean you have a bad diet, everything in moderation and all that. Holding back from feeding children pizza will probably result in them wanting it even more as they grow up. So as long as its not an everyday dinner its ok, you could even add a side of salad to it to make it a bit more balanced.

FuckedOfftotheFarSideofFuck · 05/06/2012 21:12

Pizza is my favourite takeaway as I do it the lazy way - no plates, no glasses - nothing to wash up afterwards.

I order it and specify a delivery time after the kids are in bed which annoys OH somewhat as he gets hungry before but I want to eat it curled up in peace and I do the ordering so I am in charge.

wigglesrock · 05/06/2012 21:21

I order pizza from Dominos when the children are asleep - they like the 99p pepperoni ones from Tescos - me not so much. I also buy cheesecake slices and don't share, sometimes not even with my husband Shock

I never had a bloody Chinese takeaway until I was 13 or so Grin, my children eat at around 5pm and are in bed for 7.30pm, McDonalds for them all the way.

5madthings · 05/06/2012 21:22

we sometimes have take away when the kids are in bed, we had indian tonight actually, the last time we had kebabs and the time before that we had pizza! Shock i actually LIKE ordered in pizza but its expensive so if we are all eating pizza we just buy the supermarket own brand ones as thats cheaper but sometimes dp and i like a treat once the kids are in bed so will order pizza for ourselves, occasionally we do order pizza for all of us but only if we have a voucher or its 2 for 1 night with dominos as then its not so expensive :)

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 05/06/2012 21:29

Where do you stand on female pizza deliverers who are married and have changed their names, deliver the pizza left handed and refuse to wear fake tan?

afussyphase · 05/06/2012 21:30

Sorry, no contest with the Canadian rockies :) , although the English countryside is rather pretty. It's not spectacular, though, just rather nice, and understated, in a green, damp, and rather English way. Not bad, as they say.

We ordered pizza last night after our 2 went to bed - for what it's worth it was from Londoners and was really nice. Yes, they (esp DD1) might have liked it, but we had it ourselves... Totally with you on left-handed people.

DrCoconut · 05/06/2012 23:58

Stop already. I'm on slimming world and all this talk of pizza and chinese takeaway is making me even more hungry.

lunamoon · 06/06/2012 00:11

Listen forget pizza. I currently have a secret stash of sweets hidden in the boot of my car.
I have given the kids a few but the rest are mine to be either gorged by myself, shared with dh, or handed out to kids.
If I don't stash them away then I can guarentee the kids will eat them all.

theodorakis · 06/06/2012 07:38

DrCoconut, I am too on slimming world but thanks to this thread I accidently found myself in pizza hut (alone) on my way home last night. If it's any consolation, the high fat (stuffed crust of course!) and salt has left me feeling like shit today.

Madeyemoodysmum · 06/06/2012 09:55

Chinese upsets my dh and we don't always fancy curry. We have pizza with and with out the kids :)

GeekCool · 06/06/2012 09:58

We do this!
My ds is 4, he doesn't need domino's lol. If we want pizza, we order when he is in bed. We're not going to eat it infront of him whilst he has a baked potato or something lol.

MittzressOfMittzchief · 06/06/2012 10:22

Is it wrong to eat a nice takeaway in front of Kids when they only have toast then? Ooops.....

Grin at Honeydragon!

lunamoon · 06/06/2012 11:11

My problem is my 2 eldest are teenagers with hearing that the cia would envy. So it is very difficult to sneak in takeaway pizza without them knowing. The sweets on the other hand can fit into my fist and be gorged at random moments.

Latara · 06/06/2012 13:05

I would think it's quite normal... i mean, who wants their kids to nick all their pizza? Cheaper to buy one from Tesco & cook it though.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 06/06/2012 14:24

Also if you go to Italy are the children not allowed Pizza? Do parents the length and breadth of Italy wait until the Bambinos are safely tucked away? Confused

KellyElly · 06/06/2012 14:27

I order pizza for myself more than any other take away. You can't beat a Dominos!

Fanatic · 06/06/2012 14:36

is OP doing a litte bit of market research?

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 06/06/2012 14:42

Only if she's opening a pizza take away in Canada staffed by permatanned playboy bunnys and left handed chefs, Fanatic.
