to think it's uncommon for a couple to order pizza once dc are asleep?

If the dc are asleep and the parents wanted to order a takeaway, wouldn't Indian or Chinese etc be a more obvious choice than pizza (which is often eaten with the dcs anyway)?

Ladytee, what do you think the definition of irony is? And don't you think its meaning is affected by context? i know that its wry, literary meaning is " a swimmer drowning" but on mumsnet, on a Jubilee weekend, can we not take a few liberties?

l this is the strangest thread ive seen in a while , are you a teenager and your parents ordered Pizza without saving you a slice Hmm people can order what they like and if its Pizza then Meh,

Rubirosa · 05/06/2012 11:33

We just order whatever takeaway we fancy - pizza, Indian, Chinese, even sushi - sometimes when ds is awake and sometimes when he is asleep. Can't say my decision is ever based on which one he would like best tbh Grin

AdventuresWithVoles · 05/06/2012 11:35

By the time DC fall asleep I am exhausted & don't want to stay up any longer myself. So can't relate too any of it!

Cabrinha · 05/06/2012 11:36

I am finding you annoying and tedious. Actually, more just tedious - don't care enough about your silly opinions to reach annoyance. Mild irritation perhaps - but mostly it's just the tedium.

Buckingfiatch · 05/06/2012 11:37

I never order a pizza takeaway. I am not a pizza lover. I have one probably twice a year. I luurrrvvve Chinese or Indian food though, so I do always order that whether the sprogs are in bed or not. I don't decide because of them, I base my decision on what I enjoy eating and what I fancy most at the time.

I also don't drink coffee (or tea for that matter. I have about 2 cups a week if that)

I don't think lefties or righties are in any way superior to the other based on which hand they use Hmm you could be a leftie and be a complete twat, just like a rightie could.

Bad fake tan is definitely worse. I would prefer no tan whatsoever than to look like I have been rolling around in a bath of Wotsits.

differentnameforthis · 05/06/2012 11:42

Sometimes we have Hungry Jacks after the kids have gone to bed!

differentnameforthis · 05/06/2012 11:43

Oh & here there is about $30 difference between pizza & Chinese, so on the rare occasion we have take out, we go for the cheaper option.

GoodPhariseeofDerby · 05/06/2012 11:50

We have friends over twice a week and they tend to order pizza. Personally, I find it very odd that they just don't eat before coming over (it's usually after 8 before they eat) and even when I tried having snacks out, they just ate those and then ordered a takeaway later. I find this to be madness.

Bad fake tan is always bad. Natural skin colour is better, whether pale or not.

I changed my surname at 18, as I planned years before that as I didn't want my father's last name, wanted to move on from an abusive childhood, and wanted to hide from a stalker in the family. So DH and I picked our own. I think more people would do this if it was considered more acceptable.

Years later, he said we should have changed it to McAwesomes rather than what we did. I wonder if we would have done it if he would have thought of it in the first place.

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 05/06/2012 12:05

I love takeaway pizza but it's so bloody expensive. If we order a takeaway it's normally Chinese as you get far more for your money. My DD will eat pretty much anything.

For us, a takeaway is such a rare treat we'd feel bad not sharing it with DD, but if we had more money and could do it more often, I definitely would once she's in bed sometimes.

lovebunny · 05/06/2012 13:02

my parents used to have chinese.

i always shared with daughter - we'd ditched her daddy years before...

BlackOutTheSun · 05/06/2012 13:04

Nooo Pizza is too nice to share with the dc's

MittzressOfMittzchief · 05/06/2012 13:55

Are you very, very slightly bonkers OP Grin?

I tend to fall back on the old adage about opinions on mundane stuff..... Everyone's got them....etc

I don't drink... Am not concerned of that is deemed to be tedious,
I thought the woman who bragged at breakfast in a hotel that she had vomited in her own hair when drunk and stuck her extensions to the pillow a bit tedious but each to their own.

Other people' choices are exactly that!

molepom · 05/06/2012 13:57

DD? Is that you? Have you still got a face on because I ordered in while you were supposed to be sleeping?

Go and do your homework, then you can tidy that pig's sty you call a bedroom.

yellowraincoat · 05/06/2012 14:02

I am so confused by this.

My partner and I have no kids but we eat pizza.

I'm confused.

Booette · 05/06/2012 14:05

Sometimes we have Indian, sometimes Pizza. Less often Chinese as we have to pick up. Depends on what we fancy!

You are right about left handed people (I am left handed, and 2 of my children are!)

Bad fake tans are crap full stop.

If you'd had a horrible surname like me then you'd want to change it when you got married!

Britain is beautiful, but I haven't been to the Canadian Rockies, so I can't comment on that, although it looks beautiful too. If you pay for me to go I will tell you my opinion after! Grin

Trills · 05/06/2012 14:07

I rarely order pizza anyway because Chinese or Indian is more interesting.

Trills · 05/06/2012 14:08

I understand what you mean, but it assumes that children like pizza and don't like other takeaway, which I don't think is necessarily true.

ManateeEquineOhara · 05/06/2012 14:08

Oh yes, simply shocking to order pizza without the DCs Confused Hmm

Yama · 05/06/2012 14:11

Realhouse - I agree with all of your points so far. Well, except I have seen the Canadian Rockies in the flesh but think they can't compete with the Scottish Highlands (as nowhere can).

Keep up with higher level thinking my dear.

theinets · 05/06/2012 14:17

eating pizza after the children have gone to bed is yet another sad indictment on our "have it all" selfish society. Disgusting.

pollywollydoodle · 05/06/2012 14:18

funniest thread of the day so far....

VonHerrBurton · 05/06/2012 14:26

It's Two for Tuesday at Dominos tonight...mmmm, now I've thought of it, I've got to have it!

Buntingbunny · 05/06/2012 14:40

Why would you order pizza, you keep them in the freezer. Far cheaper!

EclecticShock · 05/06/2012 14:48
