to think it's uncommon for a couple to order pizza once dc are asleep?

If the dc are asleep and the parents wanted to order a takeaway, wouldn't Indian or Chinese etc be a more obvious choice than pizza (which is often eaten with the dcs anyway)?

The OP won't be back. They are too busy writing the DM or Write Stuff piece...

realhousewifeoffitzrovia · 05/06/2012 10:03

I don't mean it's cruel to the dcs or unimaginative of the parents or anything like that. I just mean it probably doesn't happen in most families where all members like pizza because pizza would be the go-to family meal and so, faced with a choice, the parents would order something else . The context is that I am with friends who do this and I ventured my opinion that most people wouldn't do this. They called my bluff by asking me to post on mumsnet. Clearly I am dead wrong. It makes me wonder if I am as wrong about other things.

Yabu. My dd has her hot meal at school and I do a hot lunch for dd2 at lunch time so they have sandwiches/home made soup/ scrambled egg etc for tea. By the time I'm done fetching from school washing up after tea cooling cleaning doing washing putting kids in bath then bed and clearing up the choas downstairs occasionally if I'm too tired to then cook for dp & I we might order a pizza. Didn't think that there would be a problem with that. If dd1 wants pizza then we make it ourselves and do a little one with vegan cheese for dd2 do both kids get to enjoy pizza too. I shall remenber to keep cooking at nine o clock at night :(

What?Confused

Ephiny · 05/06/2012 10:05

Confused. Maybe they don't like Indian or Chinese takeaways, in which case it wouldn't be an 'obvious choice' at all? Maybe they just feel like pizza.

I would have thought it's normal for a couple to order whatever type of food they fancy, especially if the children are already fed and in bed so their tastes don't need to be catered for.

Why do you ask, anyway? Are you one of the parents involved?

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 05/06/2012 10:05

Actually, our go to family meal is curry. I'm lucky to get my share between my husband and my son. And my son is not quite 3.

So, yes, you're wrong.

Tell us what else you believe. We'll be happy to tell you if you're wrong about that as well.

If I wanted pizza I would order it. Simple as that.

seeker · 05/06/2012 10:06

One of the things I miss about my children getting older is dp and I having a late night Indian take away. Even if we try now, the little beasts smell it and come down and insist onnsharing.....

Ephiny · 05/06/2012 10:07

Oh I see, it's your friends who dared to order pizza for themselves despite being parents. I think you should probably mind your own business Hmm. Your friends will think you're a bit mad if you carry on with this obsession.

trixymalixy · 05/06/2012 10:07

You're wrong sorry!!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 05/06/2012 10:10

YABU for even having given this thought and typing it onto an internet forum.

Northernlurker · 05/06/2012 10:11

So you're sitting there with your mates telling them off for eating pizza? Wow! Do you get asked out much?

Haberdashery · 05/06/2012 10:12

I never order takeaway pizza because most of it is absolutely horrible. HTH.

TheonlyWayisGerard · 05/06/2012 10:14

I like to order a doner kebab from our local pizza place. I don't want DD eating it I want it all for myself
YABU.

usualsuspect · 05/06/2012 10:15

I love takeaway pizza, and no way would my DS get his hands on my cookies from Dominoes

He can order his own,

dylsmimi · 05/06/2012 10:15

Will someone please think of the poor pizza deprived children!!! :)

boaty · 05/06/2012 10:20

Shocking! won't mention the gateau we used to eat when dc in bed Grin

EdgarAllenPimms · 05/06/2012 10:20

and here's me thinking we should sometimes share our friday night pizza with the kids....

though it is supermarket, not takeaway.

but it only comes out when they are in bed. other takeaways we are usually equally tight with.

EdgarAllenPimms · 05/06/2012 10:21

Blush also we eat nice cake when they are in bed.

BellaOfTheBalls · 05/06/2012 10:24

Obviously refusing my children very high fat processed food makes me a terrible parent. Who'd have known!

lalaland3008 · 05/06/2012 10:29

I eat all sorts of things in secret while ds is in bed. I order a pizza quite reguarly maybe at least once a month, it's the only takeaway I really have, and ds only very occassionaly has any it's more often when he's in bed. The takeaway pizzas are really salty and while he's still too young to realise I'd rather eat the crap myself.

Ds is more of a chip shop boy anyway.

squeakytoy · 05/06/2012 10:32

come on OP, tell us the other --odd- things that you believe in... Grin

TrinityIsAFuckingRhino · 05/06/2012 10:32

gecko prefers curry anyway

and I think you must chill cause you are sounding mad to give a flying fuck what adults want to eat after the kids are in bed

PeppermintCreams · 05/06/2012 10:34

We order takeaway pizza once our 4 year old is in bed. If we are ordering takeaway for all 3 of us we have an Indian. Home made pizza is a regular meal in our house so it's not so special for him.

theodorakis · 05/06/2012 10:34

We wait until all is quiet and then order pizza and sometimes I have a happy meal! get a life dear
