There seems to be a lot of bitchiness going on,on them and to be frank, don't want my daughter to participate.

YANBU. Not appropriate for a 9 year old IMO. My nephew and nieces got accounts underage and all they do is fall out with friends, bitch and cause trouble.

McHappyPants2012 · 06/06/2012 22:13

How will he see it before me when he doesn't have the password.

I have no control over the playground Rumours bullying and everything else happens, but in school I have no control do I stop sending him to school go to the park ect.

I am not going to stop my son enjoying activities because of bullies.

What are you scared of because if it is bully's they have you trapped

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/06/2012 22:13

thatisall if people think its appropriate to let a 6 yo have FB so they can keep their coins, there's no sense trying to convince them otherwise is there?!

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/06/2012 22:15

So at 10, 11, he still won't be allowed the password?
Why?
Cos you know there is inappropriate, adult content.
You have answered your own point.

And fwiw cyber bullying is nothing like playground bullying.

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:16

Facebook has spoken:

"Facebook requires individuals to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account. In some jurisdictions, the age limit may be higher. Providing false information to create an account is always a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. This includes accounts registered on the behalf of under 13 year old children by older parties. "

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/06/2012 22:16

So ha ha

McHappyPants2012 · 06/06/2012 22:27

I know the terms and conditions, I said earlier what the age limit is so haha back.

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:27

mmmm hmmmm

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:29

Why can i not just ignore this thread??? Why ?

WTAF!!!???? Those are the rules....you are breaking the rules on behalf of your son....when he is older and you tell him he shouldn't accept cigarettes or alcohol if offered, when you tell him the rules state he can't, he will know by that age how you have disregarded the rules on this and I suspect other things and he will have every reason to ignore you because you have set a shitty example early on.

starmaker7 · 06/06/2012 22:30

Even if they had the password the notifications come immediately to my phone and include any message or links ,they can be deleted immediatey also via my phone

If facebook is a site for adults then why is it 13 and not 16??

ateotd we are sure our children are safe and yes I check the settings constantly incase fb have been fiddling with them, nothing gets past me be it on FB or IRL as all of my kids are aware -mum will find out no matter what ;0)

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:33

starmaker is your child six years old?

starmaker7 · 06/06/2012 22:35

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:36

wow....I think its time I retired for the evening

McHappyPants2012 · 06/06/2012 22:38

Star I wish I had a like button.

Its not like ds is on it all day every day, last time was 4 ish weeks ago he now prefers Lego website

starmaker7 · 06/06/2012 22:39

lol McH each to his own I say ,lifes to short :0)

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/06/2012 22:46

For crying out loud, you cannot check 100% what their friends are doing on FB.
It's not possible.

That's why there is a minimum age limit, so that the people on FB have a level of emotional maturity not found in 6 or 9 yo.

You are clearly not very bright if you think a 6 yo belongs on FB and clearly no amount of logic is going to make you understaf this.

If the example you set is to have your dc watch you play games on FB to the extent he knows all about them and needs his own account, and it's ok to ignore the rules then that's all good for you

Not so good for your dc.

And if you bothered to look into this at all you would be aware of the dangers of having immature children on FB

But that might interfere with you earning more coins though.

McHappyPants2012 · 06/06/2012 22:50

It is with his because he has 2 friends my niece and my nephew. ( his cousins)

All he does is play the games, do you not go onto the computer when dc are awake

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:51

lol at tantrum having a tantrum Grin

McHappyPants2012 · 06/06/2012 22:53

Also saying I must not be very bright can be seen as a personal attack and this is against MN talk guidelines

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/06/2012 22:54

Oh my actual days not now when he is 6 for fucks sake, when he is older and has school friends on his FB.

Are you being deliberately dense or something, clearly he isn't going to have friends posting inappropriate shit at 6, at 9 they do though.

AND HE IS NOT ALLOWED AN ACCOUNT HE IS SIX.

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:55

Nobody is addressing the fact that when they are old enough to know that they shouldn't have had those accounts as very young children...that their parents lied about their age to get one....what example will that have set? For all age restricted activities, especially when it comes to the internet??

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/06/2012 22:55

Report it then. Good, that's fine.
My opinion? Anyone that allows a 6 year old to have FB is not too bright.

How old did you pretend he was btw?

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:56

McHappy so you are invoking the rules of this website to protect yourself, but not the rules of Facebook to protect your son?

thatisall · 06/06/2012 22:56

I really am bored and off to bed now

starmaker7 · 06/06/2012 22:57

I am friends with their friends so I have a pretty good idea :0)

I am very bright actualy and I resent your insinuation that I'm not, aren't personal insults against the toc ??

Like I've said their security is as tight as a ducks arse and so is mine ,no open to all pages,no random adds, no inbox messages from 'non friends' ,I check everything it is actually possible to have a safe and secure account
