Do you do dry your washing with a mangle?

RoxyRobin · 26/05/2012 09:34

My gran had a mangle - I used to put the ends of my sister's hair in it and wind ...

No, not on it. Therein may lie madness.

discophile · 26/05/2012 10:32

Never. Never. Never.

puds11 · 26/05/2012 10:38

Im not on FB. Its a life stealer.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/05/2012 10:46

I'm on fb. Just last week I deleted over 100 people off my friends list. It was liberating! I now only have people on there that I'm actually interested in reading about.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 26/05/2012 10:54

Never been on facebook and have no interested in joining, as far as I can see it just causes upset, my friends are always bickering about something someone has put on facebook

StepOutOfSpring · 26/05/2012 14:49

How do you feel when you get deleted though, by someone you thought you got on with?

peanutbutter38 · 26/05/2012 15:16

I'm on it; the only people I know not on it are over 50.

seeker · 26/05/2012 16:13

Over 50? What do you think stops the over 50s being on Facebook? I would hve thought it would be perfect for people as they start to slow down and they become less mobile. They could keep in touch with their friends without having to go out And lots of older people don't like going to the pub and places like that,

usualsuspect · 26/05/2012 16:14

I'm over 50 and I'm on fb

usualsuspect · 26/05/2012 16:15

I can still manage to stagger to the pub as well Grin

StepOutOfSpring · 26/05/2012 16:25

I'm not over 50 and I'm not on FB. I'm certainly not a "dinosaur" drying my clothes with a mangle either :o I love new technology and communicating, just not by FB.

StepOutOfSpring · 26/05/2012 16:26

"They could keep in touch with their friends without having to go out"

Er, maybe they have phones?

Older people do find technology difficult, though.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/05/2012 17:21

"How do you feel when you get deleted though, by someone you thought you got on with?"

I'm not sure if that's aimed at me StepOutOfSpring but I honestly can't answer because Ive only ever been deleted by old school friends and it really doesnt bother me. It's only facebook.

StepOutOfSpring · 26/05/2012 17:41

Thanks Ferret. Just asking everyone really. I've been deleted from MSN sometimes and wondered for ages what I'd done to deserve it! So probably best I don't join FB too :o

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/05/2012 18:43

My criteria for the deletions were mainly reasons such as 'I've not spoke to you since middle school' and 'I met you in a club about 3 years ago we have not spoke since'
They clogged up my feed with silly status's and photos from their granny's 80th birthday shindig.
Plus my time spent on facebook has dropped because I no longer feel compelled to read through said silly status's. Grin

dementedma · 26/05/2012 19:40

I don't have a FB page and never will. And I'm under 50

EchoBitch · 26/05/2012 23:17

I'm over 50 and i have FB.

It's great if you use it for a laugh and to keep up with far away friends and family.

I don't know why people say they don't when they really do.

It's nothing to be ashamed of unlike MN Grin

Bunbaker · 26/05/2012 23:25

I don't "get" Facebook or Twitter. I have a FB account, but don't use it. I only have 13 friends because they asked me. I have never asked anyone to be my friend and am not interested in living my life in the public domain.

get0rfm0iland · 26/05/2012 23:28

I joined FB last year and had an account for about 2 months before I deleted it. I spent an evening looking for people I knew and adding friends, looking at pictures. I accepted a load of friends and then just sat there and watched the 'I have just fed my fish' updates come through.

I never used it to communicate with anyone and ended up deleting the account out of sheer boredom.

I never really got twitter either. It just looked like a load of people shouting into a cave.

EchoBitch · 26/05/2012 23:29

But it's not in the public domain if you keep your settings private.

You don't have to accept friend requests.

FB has got DP and i in touch with alot of old friends we had lost touch with and now regularly meet up with again...well,once or twice a year!

EchoBitch · 26/05/2012 23:36

But i do agree that twitter is weird.

'Following' people you don't know and will never meet because they are celebrities is odd.
