sorry - Daily Fail link

particularly the second woman in but basically all of them. What is the real need to have such low cut/high cut bottoms? Does it make them more aerodynamic or something?

Shock

Does anyone actually take women's volleyball seriously (except the competitors)? It seems to be just a big perve-a-thon.

Faverolles · 24/05/2012 17:32

The men don't wear skimpy, teeny weeny clothes, so I'm guessing aerodynamics have bugger all to do with it.
YANBU
It makes what should be a great Olympic event a bit cheap and tawdry.

Sallyingforth · 24/05/2012 18:02

I like the way the girl from Brazil has BRA across her top.
Is there a matching country for the bottom?

orienteerer · 24/05/2012 18:05

How on earth can they concentrate on their sport when they're worried about their kit being so skimpy!

Mrsrobertduvall · 24/05/2012 18:07

It's not a good look for some of them.
However it's the only event we have tickets for Sad

Sleepydog · 24/05/2012 18:19

You'd have to make sure that you had a very good waxing Wink

Teeb · 24/05/2012 18:42

I thought exactly the same when I saw it. It just seemed really unnecessary.

mayorquimby · 24/05/2012 18:46

i fully support these outfits.

startwig1982 · 24/05/2012 18:53

The bottoms are so small!! Surely they'd just ride up all the time? I'd just about fit my foot in them Envy

poorbuthappy · 24/05/2012 18:55

I saw this and am currently struggling to understand how this highlights the extra traffic on the roads during the Olympics.

Bet it was a man who came up with this.

BillyBollyBandy · 24/05/2012 18:56

They are just skimpy pants. Who wants the culmination of their sporting career to take place while wearing only skimpy pants and a crop top?

I'm amazed something that looks so trashy is in the Olympics.

sarahseashell · 24/05/2012 18:58

YANBU I thought the same

MuddyDogs · 24/05/2012 19:01

I've always thought this was really weird. Like Orienteerer, I'd never be able to concentrate on my sport if I thought everyone was watching my jiggly bits bounce around Hmm. Track runners wear similar gear but they don't have any jiggly bits so not such an issue there Grin.

whenskiesaregrey · 24/05/2012 19:02

I would hate to have to wear those bottoms to play a sport, they must be so uncomfortable.

happy2bhomely · 24/05/2012 19:06

I think that as long as they are wearing them because they choose to, then meh. i don't find it offensive or anything!

I think they look ok. In fact they look refreshingly 'normal' (Their figures, I mean)

They don't look particularly comfy, but then neither do spanx or high heels or push up bras or any number of things women wear.

catasaurus1976 · 24/05/2012 19:07

God they don't look comfortable. You can see pudenda

Is it meant to look sexy? Will ask DH but to me it's not a flattering cut.

ToryLovell · 24/05/2012 19:08

IIRC there are really restrictive regulations detailing how small the costumes have to be. It must be so unpleasant to wear so little in public for playing sport.

I wear bigger knickers under my clothes.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 24/05/2012 19:08

Assyria maybe sally Grin

kensingtonkat · 24/05/2012 19:11

Silly women desperate for male approval. It's all the rage these days. They've been doing the same thing at Cambridge University this week.

It's post-feminism, isn't it. You flash your bits and feel empowered instead of demeaned Hmm

Shakey1500 · 24/05/2012 19:16

Well I can't see any advantage aerodynamically (is that even a word?) and they certainly don't look comfortable but as far as an item of clothing, it's no worse than a bikini.

catasaurus1976 · 24/05/2012 19:18

I suppose it is beach volley ball and you might wear that on a beach but I swear I would wear a far more flattering version. I wouldn't jump aorund in a bikini myself because I am far too wobbly and people would gouge out their eyes

fuzzysnout · 24/05/2012 19:24

sallyingforth I think the bottoms just say 'brazillian' Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 24/05/2012 19:27

Ew. Those must chafe, and I bet they spend a lot of time having to pick the bottoms out of their arse cracks.

I wonder whether the incidence of UTI's is higher in women's beach volleyball teams?

kensingtonkat · 24/05/2012 19:28

But a bikini is fit for purpose - it needs to expose as much of you to the sun as decently possible.

Whereas there's no fecking way it's comfortable to wear those pants for running and jumping around in.

I bet the Olympic committee responsible for designing the uniforms is full of dirty old men. Ditto the advertising and marketing departments. Oh wait, hang on...
