Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Linford Christie famed for his huge penis in his tight shorts? Did that distract from the fact he was fast, was he opressed and downtrodden?
Whilst its juvenile that possible some spectators will be watching their arses, they do not mind, and their focus is still mostly on actually doing well. No one cries "oppression" when synchronised swimmers flash gusset, its something to go with or get over.
Personally I LOATHE speedos, I am only disappointed that whilst the rest of the world has spent many years trying to get rid of them on males, some bloody women start wearing them. They're hideous. Saying that, they're no more hideous than many sportswear (think shell suits) and no more revealing than others (think body-building).
I find all this argument mildly depressing... if they were forced to wear woollen pantaloons, there's be outcry, if they wear little, outcry. Much as I hate speedos and think they're completely unflattering (oh shoot me, I'm a feminist that like flattering things) I find it actually rather refreshing that these women obviously don't give a stuff whether they're skimpy OR unflattering and are brilliant at what they do... it they were to be complete volleyball popular traditionalists, they'd be forced to have boob jobs and fanny uplifts, botox and a cal-a-for-i-a smile too, at which point, if one of them objected, I'd be first in line to sign a petition.
And so what if men get off on it and miss the whole point? So the fuck what? I got off on Linford's pouch for years and completely miss the point of running fast for a few metres.
