and the NHS should not fund IVF in favour of vital medications for already existing people e.g. cancer drugs being funded? Hmm

I'm feeling masochistic this evening and am looking forward to munching on some biscuits and getting my ass handed to me.

brainmish I talked about adoption back on page 4. I think you're wrong that making adoption easier would stop people striving for a biological child. All through our 3 IVF's (two paid for, one on the NHS) I was adamant that I did not want to adopt. I didn't think it would be possible to love a child that wasn't mine biologically. Making the adoption process easier wouldn't have changed this. The heartbreak of all three cycles failing didn't change my opinion either.

What changed? We hosted two lovely girls from Belarus for a fortnight as part of the Chernobyl Children's Project. One of the girls was very poorly with viral conjunctivitis and we had to nurse her back to health which was complicated by the language barrier. In those two weeks we bonded with these kids much more than I ever expected. I realised that love wasn't biological. Thanks to this experience we now have a son who came to us just over a year ago at 18 months old. I love our little guy more than anything and can't imagine loving another child more. I feel honoured and privileged to be his dad.

"I couldn't have treatment on the NHS because my then husband had children from a previous marriage,"

Angry

This is one of the things that absolutely needs to end. Refusing treatment to a woman because her husband has children is unbelievably cruel.

Nice story Captain :)

Sorry for your loss MrsDV :(
