Would you be offended by a father accompanying his small daughters into the ladies toilet?

I have two dds aged 4 and 2. My dh often takes them out and about in town on his own and inevitably needs to take them into public toilets. The thing is that male public toilets are often extremely dirty and unsanitary and I'd much rather he took them into the ladies. My question is would you be offended by a man coming into the ladies toilet when he is obviously accompanying a small girl? I don't personally know anyone who would have a problem with this but would be interesting to see if lots of people disagree with me.

Well clearly, Farside, the world would end. There would be elderly women fainting, young girls passing out at the sight of unconstrained penises, grown men crying that their manhood had been observed by toddler females.

However, as there seem to be about ten of them (or equivalent) on every high street I think there's possibly a way to plan ahead for this if a family are really feeling strongly about the need for a unisex, non-disabled loo.

5madthings · 08/05/2012 15:47

well i think we have come full circle! but i am already home, i may go have a little lie down as the baby is asleep and i can put a film on for ds4, i need a rest Grin

Jins · 08/05/2012 15:48

Well I continue to hold the view that if it says ladies on the door then there should be a reasonable expectation that there will be no men inside.

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:49

Oh FFS I was trying to inject some humor clearly failing miserably
Good idea THEFARSIDE
Alternatively go back to page 1 and start all over again :)

thunksheadontable · 08/05/2012 15:49

Certainly not men tending to the needs of toddler daughters!

thunksheadontable · 08/05/2012 15:50

So was I Farside!

thunksheadontable · 08/05/2012 15:51

Only 18 posts to go to kill the thread...

Glitterkitten · 08/05/2012 15:51

thank you for the reference thefarside

If the point (whichever it was on that page, at the end of the day all posts are one opinion of one poster. Their significance is subjective) had been so over-riding in its significance, the debate wouldn't have gone on another 30 or so pages.

seeker calm down dear.

i freely admitted i don't have hours to waste reading such a large thread. the extent of the debate on the issue speaks for itself. that is my point.

now go find another bone to chew on

5madthings · 08/05/2012 15:51

and given how often this would actually happen i think you would be reasonable in expecting their wont be any men in the ladies but in rare circumstances and if they ask politely i am not sure what the alternative is, unless you actually think its ok for a small child to wet themselves?

fondantfancier · 08/05/2012 15:52

I don't think I'd mind. When I'm not around my other half has to go into the ladies to change nappies as often the changing facilities are in there.

Jins · 08/05/2012 15:53

I actually think it's ok for a man to take his daughter in the mens toilets. Why not? He's there to look out for her isn't he?

garlicbutty · 08/05/2012 15:54

No. I wouldn't be offended. Neither would I mind if he took her to the gents'. There are usually more cubicles in the ladies' and I'd assume that was the point.

Nothing to do with age - I'm quite old, and the next generation up from me wouldn't mind either.

Glad I didn't read the whole thread!

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:54

Erm glitter, if you are not interested, why post?
Just to tell everyone you don't have time to read it all?

And I know you didnt say it to me but "calm down dear" is very patronizing and passive aggressive IMHO
But I'm sure you know that already...

5madthings · 08/05/2012 15:55

fondantfancier at first glance i thought your name said FOOTfancier.... i really need a lie down!

JosieZ · 08/05/2012 15:55

Wouldn't bother me either.

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 15:57

*yon close to 1000 posts of debate on the issue later it is clear there is a huge difference of opinion. its sad to see such an innocent thing as taking a little girl for a wee being so controversial.

and we don't all have time to read all posts on such a lengthy thread. i have better things to do with my time. the last few pages however were enough to give a flavour no doubt*

If you haven't got time to read the thread properly, don't post something so utterly stupid and inaccurate. Sure, read the OP and react to that, but what you came out with was utterly stupid. The whole point of a lot of posts have been to point out that taking a little girl for a wee is a innocent thing, which you'd know if you bothered. If you have better things to do, go do them. Grin

pickles35 · 08/05/2012 15:58

I think the consensus of opinion is that there is no consensus of opinion.

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:59

Too busy to read..not too busy to post?
Hmm, or maybe not busy but can't be bothered to read anyone else's opinions, thoughts etc before you post your own?

Off you pop with your busy life, the rest of us have NOTHING to do :)

Glitterkitten · 08/05/2012 15:59

Patronising and passive aggressive it may be. lets just bear in mind i was called stupid and told to piss off immediately after my first post. perspective and all. why pick a battle on someone else's behalf? as you rightly pointed out "calm down dear" wasn't aimed at you!

i read the op and bits and bobs of the rest of the thread and the last few pages and posted my opinion based on what i'd seen. as i am sure many others have. i never said i wasn't interested. i just didn't have time to read the whole lot like i said.

Confused
Glitterkitten · 08/05/2012 16:00

The whole point of a lot of posts have been to point out that taking a little girl for a wee is a innocent thing, which you'd know if you bothered.

so 1000 posts agreeing with each other? glad i didn't bother reading the whole thing then!

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 16:01

I don't like the passive aggressive thing, my own personal opinion.
Therefore I thought id mention it.

Maybe I didn't read the part where you were called stupid because I was too busy...

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 16:01

I'm so glad i'm not a man in today's society. This forum would have you believe it would be reasonable to stamp "potential peado"/ "wife beater" on the head of anyone with the misfortune of being born with a penis.

Totally reasonable to call this ^^ stupid and tell you to piss off really.

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 16:02
Grin
Glitterkitten · 08/05/2012 16:02

yeah, totally
