Would you be offended by a father accompanying his small daughters into the ladies toilet?

I have two dds aged 4 and 2. My dh often takes them out and about in town on his own and inevitably needs to take them into public toilets. The thing is that male public toilets are often extremely dirty and unsanitary and I'd much rather he took them into the ladies. My question is would you be offended by a man coming into the ladies toilet when he is obviously accompanying a small girl? I don't personally know anyone who would have a problem with this but would be interesting to see if lots of people disagree with me.

Whale - that seems a bit harsh. You are saying not everyone has the right to a viewpoint, even if you dont agree with them?

In my opinion everyone has the right to a viewpoint which is to be listened to & their reasons respected. Its fine to not agree and say so but its very harsh to say they cant even have it in the first place.

And as was said earlier its a moot point as we still have yet to find a man who would do it. I just asked my DP and he said NO WAY! Nor would I ask him too.

bejeezus · 08/05/2012 13:59

men have no fear of abuse from children. They will not be triggered by the presence of a child

outyougo · 08/05/2012 14:00

Yes, women can be abusers and attackers but surely the number of adult women who has been violently or sexually attacked by an adult man is massively higher than the number of men who have been violently or sexually attacked by a small girl.

Men might not want to pee in front of children, or indeed each other but they have the option of waiting for a cubicle. Uriniating in urinals is not compulsory.

bejeezus · 08/05/2012 14:01

i think you mean me rather than whale

you are taking the womens choice away already, disregarding her opinion completely, and invalidating her feelings by allowing men into womens toilets

pickles35 · 08/05/2012 14:03

Beejeezus I said :

So I think basically - if either a woman or a man has a problem with a child or disabled young person in either toilet then that's something that really, cannot be helped.

Outougo - Agree must be higher, but cannot be discounted entirely. I was thinking of an adult woman going in the mens more than a child. The instances of a man being attacked by a small girl child must surely be miniscule.

I am NOT advocating banning girls from mens loos.

pickles35 · 08/05/2012 14:04

How on earth am I doing that beejeezus?

crunchbag · 08/05/2012 14:04

MrsHeffley, I shall add: unless there are no baby change or cubicles Wink

lucyellensmumnamechange · 08/05/2012 14:05

I just cannot believe this thread!!! The world has gone fucking men hating mad

Id much rather a man take a child into the ladies actually than the mens, simply because mens toilets tend to be vile stink holes

I would rather they use a ladies toilet rather than a disabled toilet as they are for disabled people only

Anyone else who thinks that this is unacceptable, is quite frankly, a little bit weird

pickles35 · 08/05/2012 14:05

Soz Whale, yes meant you Beejeezus.

MrsHeffley · 08/05/2012 14:05

Sooooo if all the cubicles are full are little girls supposed to wet themselves on the complete unlikely off chance an abuse victim is a)going to be in the same toilet b)even see the dad and c)actually be upset by it.

Kind of sad in this day and age if a dad can't zoom in and out to save a child the humiliation of wetting themselves or being dangled over a urinal in front of all the other mens toilet users.

Madness!

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 14:06

Erm, what? I have no idea what this is in response to?

MrsHeffley · 08/05/2012 14:06

Sorry Xposted crunch

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 14:06

MyLittleMiracle · 08/05/2012 14:07

To be honest I think there should be more children's toilets around. I noticed this after having my little boy. The men's can be really vile to the point ny ex wouldn't use them and rather wait half hour, a kid can't always wait that long. So either they take a child into a disgusting toilet, use the women's or let the kid wet themselves. It makes it very difficult for dads. If I take my little boy (2) into a toilet no one bats an eye lid, what we need is children's toilets.

outyougo · 08/05/2012 14:07

I don't think its ok for women to go into mens loos.

It has been stated over and over again that it is unfair on the menz to have small girls in mens loos as men might feel uncomfortable with girls in a male only space, so in order to accommodate their feelings, men will use womens loos and the women who don't like it will have to get a grip.

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 14:08

This amused me:

"The world has gone fucking men hating mad" and "mens toilets tend to be vile stink holes" in the same post bwahaha

pickles35 · 08/05/2012 14:08

Sorry Whale. See above for Beejeesus it was.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 08/05/2012 14:10

Yes outyougo. Because men's feelings are so much more important than women's. Didn't you know that?

outyougo · 08/05/2012 14:11

Of course I did. Its obvious innit.

pickles35 · 08/05/2012 14:11

OK I see sorry beejeesus re the attacker abuser bit. Yes accept very unlikely man attacked or abused by small girl. See you meant girls in mens and not adult women.

outyougo · 08/05/2012 14:12

"mens toilets tend to be vile stink holes"

We are talking 'out and about in town' here so John Lewis, M&S, costa. Not download or a back street pub at 2am on Sunday morning.

TheUnMember · 08/05/2012 14:13

Sooooo if all the cubicles are full are little girls supposed to wet themselves on the complete unlikely off chance an abuse victim is a)going to be in the same toilet b)even see the dad and c)actually be upset by it.

According to UN studies into violence against women, approximately 50% of women are abuse victims. So it's not 'the complete unlikely off chance' and is in fact 'the just as likely as not chance'.

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 14:13

I have to wonder, why are men's toilets so gross that kids can't use them? What are men doing in there? Are they incapable of toileting in a naice fashion?

If they aren't, do we really want to share our naice facilities?

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 14:14

With men that is, not the children.

pickles35 · 08/05/2012 14:15

men in mens
women in womens

children in same sex as parent.

Arent we agreeing on this?

No way would I say a man should go in the womens to aviod the poor men seeing a girl-child in there. BUT they are entitled to voice an opinion, and I would disagree with them.

Yes mens loos stink
Yes womens loos stink

Some of the time.
