Would you be offended by a father accompanying his small daughters into the ladies toilet?

NickECave · 07/05/2012 11:20

I have two dds aged 4 and 2. My dh often takes them out and about in town on his own and inevitably needs to take them into public toilets. The thing is that male public toilets are often extremely dirty and unsanitary and I'd much rather he took them into the ladies. My question is would you be offended by a man coming into the ladies toilet when he is obviously accompanying a small girl? I don't personally know anyone who would have a problem with this but would be interesting to see if lots of people disagree with me.

Also quite a lot of little girls I know would get upset re going into the mens anyway

My dd started crying last time :(

Glitterkitten · 08/05/2012 15:06

Blimey.

I'm so glad i'm not a man in today's society. This forum would have you believe it would be reasonable to stamp "potential peado"/ "wife beater" on the head of anyone with the misfortune of being born with a penis.

Get all men to dress in burkhas just in case the sight of them offends any women or children who might happen to clap eyes on them in public

inabeautifulplace · 08/05/2012 15:06

Am I alone in thinking that teaching my daughter to piss in the street will spare everyone's blushes?

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:10

Yes piss in the bush, just make sure the bush is the same sex as the parent of said dc and there is not a queue.

TheUnMember · 08/05/2012 15:10

'Get all men to dress in burkhas just in case the sight of them offends any women or children who might happen to clap eyes on them in public women's toilets'

There you go, I corrected it for you.

ABatInBunkFive · 08/05/2012 15:10

I don't think it's ever been acceptable for a man to use the ladies in any society tbh.

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:14

But clearly much more acceptable to take a 4 yo into a men's toilet where men are peeing at a urinal in full view?
Or for said 4 yo to wet herself because she is out with dad?

As for the cover up from head to toe comment, the exaggeration on here has to be seen to be believed.

What a crock of shit. Read the thread properly or piss off.

Glitterkitten- are you naturally stupid or do you practice?

Glitterkitten · 08/05/2012 15:16

you aren't going to be in the same cubicle as them!

the most "contact" would be a dad washing his daughter's hands in the next sink. god forbid

kind of public enough to be deemed "in public" ...............

TheFarSide · 08/05/2012 15:16

FarSideofFuckingBalloons - finally I have found someone to go two by two into the ark with me. Shall we?

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:18

YES!!!
Let's go, I've been waiting forever to get on!

Glitterkitten · 08/05/2012 15:21

oooo- two insults in ten minutes.

bosoms are being hoicked speedily today

Shock (that's a big yawn in this case btw)

gramercy · 08/05/2012 15:22

I can't say I'd be thrilled to see a bloke in the women's toilets. You may not immediately realise he had a child with him (she may be in a cubicle alone) and if it was not busy it might be at best disconcerting, and at worse very alarming.

Still - a few months ago I was Shock Shock at the swimming pool when I spied a man with his daughter in the ladies' changing rooms. A supervisor marched in and had him out pronto.

seeker · 08/05/2012 15:23

Ah, it comes naturally, I see.

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 15:23

Glitterkitten that's because the opinion you expressed was utterly stupid and it's clear you haven't read the thread properly Hmm

Jins · 08/05/2012 15:23

So the majority view here on Mumsnet seems to be that a man using the ladies loo is absolutely fine? Am I right?

And in the real world?

5madthings · 08/05/2012 15:24

peeing at the urinals in full view? they are facing the urinals, and its not like they are waving their willy around as people have made out, you can barely see anything when a man is stood weeing at a urinal.

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:25

Not a man using the ladies loo, a dad bringing his dd into the ladies loo when she is too young to go alone, preferably calling out first to warn everyone.

Jins · 08/05/2012 15:26

OK

And in the real world?

YonWhaleFish · 08/05/2012 15:26

waving their willy around pmsl

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:27

Full view or not- it's not exactly private is it?
Personally I don't like that idea, maybe others think its ok, that's their opinion, I'm not about to tell people what they personally should be comfortable with, I would just prefer DH to have taken dd(when she was small) into the ladies rather than the men's.

5madthings · 08/05/2012 15:27

i would be fine with it, esp if they called out first, but can understand why some women would be uncomfortable so it should be a last resort, same as me taking one of my boys into the mens toilets was a last resort as the wait for the ladies was huge and a newly potty trained child was not going to be able to hold on that long, i just knocked and shouted and asked if it was ok.

Jins · 08/05/2012 15:31

So if they call out first to warn everyone and someone tells them that no actually they would prefer that a man didn't come into the ladies what then?

Are they told to get a grip?

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 08/05/2012 15:33

I can't see many people saying no dont bring your toddler dd in here because you are a MAN, take her to pee in the street.

Mind you, I never knew this subject was so controversial tbh
