Would you be offended by a father accompanying his small daughters into the ladies toilet?

I have two dds aged 4 and 2. My dh often takes them out and about in town on his own and inevitably needs to take them into public toilets. The thing is that male public toilets are often extremely dirty and unsanitary and I'd much rather he took them into the ladies. My question is would you be offended by a man coming into the ladies toilet when he is obviously accompanying a small girl? I don't personally know anyone who would have a problem with this but would be interesting to see if lots of people disagree with me.

I wouldn't like it, to be honest, and I tend towards the "who gives a fuck" on most scales.

kilmuir · 07/05/2012 11:23

Would not bother me. i have younger children and would rather they avoided the mens toilets if possible! Your DH would be in a cubicle and probably feel more awkward than i would if i met him in there

StuckForWords · 07/05/2012 11:23

I wouldn't mind. It's not as if you strip off outside of the cubicle or anything like that.

Julesnobrain · 07/05/2012 11:23

It wouldn't bother me if the men's were yuk but if it was nice posh loos I'd be a bit [hmmm]

BabyDubsEverywhere · 07/05/2012 11:23

I couldnt care less tbh.

LadyBeagleEyes · 07/05/2012 11:23

Wouldn't bother me at all.

Sirzy · 07/05/2012 11:23

I wouldnt like it. I have no problem with children going with an adult into the opposite sex toilets but adults should go into the "right" toilet

Sarcalogos · 07/05/2012 11:23

I think it's a bit odd, and I think my DH would feel uncomfortable doing it.

A better solution I think would to take them into a small men's loo in a cafe or supermarket somewhere which is likely to be more sanitary.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 07/05/2012 11:24

It wouldn't bother me at all. It's not as if they have open urinals in the ladies, is it? There's sometimes children's toilets inside large shopping centres.

WorraLiberty · 07/05/2012 11:24

I think it's unnecessary to be honest.

It wouldn't bother me tbh.

Treblesallround · 07/05/2012 11:24

Logically I wouldn't have any objection at all. It's not like I strip off in there or anything. I can't really see the point of segregating toilts, but because it's what we're used to I think my initial reactin might be a bit surprised, but then my logical side would kick in. I certainly wouldn't be disapproving to him
and certainly wouldn't want little girls having to go into mens' toilets (stinky)

iwannabewizbit · 07/05/2012 11:24

I wouldnt mind, infact one day when I saw a dad waiting in a que for the disabled toilet with his dd as the men's was manky, told him to use the ladies, his poor dd was bouncing about desperate for the loo. He was totally embarrassed, but his dd was too young to go in the ladies alone. They had been in the que when I took my 3 in the loo and were still there after a nappy change and the rest of us using the loo.

Julesnobrain · 07/05/2012 11:24

Sorry Hmm

aethelfleda · 07/05/2012 11:25

I wouldn't mind, but I think some ladies (esp More elderly) might. Can't he use the babychange area ie the disabled loos which often have a babychange unit in them too? Taking a 2 and 4 year old together into a disabled loo for easy safe loo access seems Preferable really.

StuckForWords · 07/05/2012 11:25

I'd have a problem with a young girl being taken into the mens toilets - they're often hideous!

The safe solution to all of this would probably be the baby changing or disabled toilet which is often unisex.

Shutupanddrive · 07/05/2012 11:26

It wouldn't bother me at all

Sirzy · 07/05/2012 11:26

Those who say young girls shouldn't be taken into the men's what about young boys then?

ReelAroundTheFountain · 07/05/2012 11:26

I wouldn't mind one bit. TBH I find it really odd just how uptight people get about somewhere we use for weeing and pooing in individual stalls.

DizzyKipper · 07/05/2012 11:26

Wouldn't bother me at all, it's a father looking after his young daughters not a pervert trying to get off on hearing me wee!

scubastevie · 07/05/2012 11:27

Couldn't he take them into the disabled toilets on these occasions? I wouldn't like a man in ladies loos tbh. You might have teenage girls/changing sanitary towels etc all sorts really.

picnicbasketcase · 07/05/2012 11:27

Wouldn't bother me.

MrsMcEnroe · 07/05/2012 11:27

Yes I would have a problem with it, sorry.

When DH is out with our DD he takes her into the men's toilets. I have never, and would never, accompany DS into the men's toilets. When he was younger he came in the ladies' with me (and still does sometimes; he's nearly 8).
