to make DD invite the boys?

DD's 11th birthday is in 2 weeks and we're sorting out a party - a film evening and food/cake at home. There are only 10 kids in her class - 7 girls and 3 boys. She only wants to invite the girls, plus 3 girls from other classes. She is currently in a sulk because I told her she should invite the boys too.

My reasons for this are: there are only 3 boys so they hardly get to any parties therefore it would be a kind thing to to, and she has been to one of the boys' birthdays already but to invite him but not the other 2 is not on.

She maintains that she doesn't want them and they won't want to come either.

Should I insist?

Of course not Confused

But that is not the situation here
There is a precedent for single sex parties in her year group.

My DD is having a party for just her friends. She is only going to b 5. I can't afford to invite the whole class and frankly don't want to. I am not going to invite people back who did whole class parties, unless she is friends with them anyway, as that would just be odd.

The problem for me is that she is having the numbers for a whole class party, just substituting three other girls for the boys in her class. BTW my DD is 16 months so I am writing more to see what is normal than because I think this is easy stuff. I am DREADING it.

You just can't decide everything for them when they're eleven, they have their own minds and everything !

I'll say the boys won't want to go anyway. Problem solved.

(Boys are people too....Actually boys ROCK!) Wink )

Indeed, let's see who RSVPs now, if anyone.....

Seriously, my dd is fine. There are so many other things which are going to screw her up before this does - REAL worries like where is she going to even go to school next year, will she have to go to boarding school and if so how will she cope? I'm going to worry about those issues instead. Watch out for my threads next year Grin.
