to want to get my nipples pierced

I have, since a teenager, hankered after pierced nipples. I never had the nerve. DC s and BF scuppered any thoughts along those lines. DH is intrigued rather than enthusiastic. Now I am 37 the yearning is still there. Should I? Is this an early mid life crisis that I'll get over? I don't have other piercings apart from ear lobes.

I have lotsa piercings! nipples included, go and do it if you want!

Ambrosius · 30/04/2012 20:30

Yanbu, but I will warn you that they take a long time to heal, and hurt quite alot! :)
I took mine out when I was about 7mo pg so I could bf. I miss them, but not enough to have them redone!

AllYoursBabooshka · 30/04/2012 20:33

Ambrosius, I just had the oddest vision of you trying to BF for the first time and milk spraying out in three directions. :o

I can't see why not OP, Other than the pain. Ouch.

Sarcalogos · 30/04/2012 20:43

Ow ow ow ow ow

nothing else constructive to say

BabyDubsEverywhere · 30/04/2012 21:06

I took mine out when i was pregnant, miss them and will be getting them redone after this third and final. I feel kind of naked now without them - very odd i know Grin

Go for it, of course it hurts when having them done, and for a bit while healing, buts its not agony or anything, and if you dont like how they look you can just take them out anyway!

Good luck :)

shesparkles · 30/04/2012 21:09

I had one done when I was 36-once I'd finished breast feeding. I think I did it to kind of "reclaim" my body after having the children.
It did hurt but if I had my time again I'd still do it, so go for it

Birdsgottafly · 30/04/2012 21:09

Depends on how sensitive your nipples are (i can orgasm from mine).

I wouldn't risk losing that, which is a possibility.

perplexedpirate · 30/04/2012 21:10

Go for it.

Envy @ birds

AgathaFusty · 30/04/2012 21:11

Get it done, you'll only keep thinking about it if you don't. I think both looks better than one - kind of more balanced Grin

Empusa · 30/04/2012 21:11

I had mine done, it wasn't too painful for me. Though I had to remove one after a few years when it started to reject, I didn't fancy a split nipple. Confused

technoduck · 30/04/2012 21:12

Ive had to take mine out since ive become pregnant, miss them so much and will be having them redone after having a couple of little ones. Grin

fallenangle · 30/04/2012 21:33

The consensus of the experienced seems to be go for it. Birds is particularly persuasive. Grin

Birdsgotafly, I found mine even more sensitive after they were pierced... Grin

BorisJohnsonsHair · 30/04/2012 21:37

Can you get clip-ons? [keen but scared emoticon]

squeakytoy · 30/04/2012 21:37

I have known too many people get really bad infections from them... certainly not something I would want to get done.

ManicPanic · 30/04/2012 21:59

Do it.

SardineQueen · 30/04/2012 22:06

Go for it
You can always take them out if you change your mind
One at a time though is the way to go surely

McHappyPants2012 · 30/04/2012 22:09

do it, i had mine done and still managed breast feeding ( took it out in pregnancy) mine needs redoing as it closed :(

FondleWithCare · 30/04/2012 22:13

Do it. I had one, took it out while I was pregnant (that nipple has milk pouring from it now Grin) and I'll get it redone when I've finished breastfeeding.

It didn't hurt much, they numb it first, I had one drop of blood then all was fine. It is a little bit embarrassing though. You have to sit topless and thrust your chest forwards for them to do it.

dreamingbohemian · 30/04/2012 22:19

Why not, just be sure to go someplace proper, that will lessen the chance of anything going wrong

I dated a guy years ago who pierced his own nipple at home one night

Should probably go add that to the 'red flags' thread!

mummmsy · 30/04/2012 22:29

yanbu i'd love to get my nose pierced, always have - too chicken though!

don't even have ears pierced

fallenangle · 30/04/2012 22:32

Sardine getting one done makes great sense. I know it should be the left, not sure why.
