to think Morrison's is the Home of Scumminess?

RevoltingPeasant · 19/04/2012 17:45

There is a Morrison's on my way home from work, so I swing by to pick up essential cheapo petrol etc.

Last week, the woman behind me in the queue had:
-multipack of WKD Blue
-multipack of Red Stripe
-Tena Lady pads

  • cigarettes
-cough syrup And she was debating with her DP whether or not the syrup also contained alcohol.

Last night, I went in to pick up some juice, and the man standing by the display picked one up, opened it, drank from it, said 'Ahh that's better', winked at me, and continued shopping Shock

Plus every second person is missing at least three teeth. But it is cheap....

workshy I've never been to the one in 'cas vegas' for that very reason, glasshoughton asda is bad enough.

We used to use the Wakefield dewsbury road morrisons until they opened the shiny new sainsburys in trinity walk, I've never been in there and seen it busy, it's a nice place to shop.

Waves to all the west Yorkshire mnetters and ignores the fact she's not from Leeds!

Whatmeworry · 19/04/2012 22:13

We had a Safeways, became a Morrisons - chalk and cheese - we went elsewhere within weeks

Whatmeworry · 19/04/2012 22:15

I shall probably regret complaining about this as I get older but the shop always seemed to be full of pensioners at lunchtime. Why, if you've got all day would you go to a supermarket at lunchtime that is in the middle of a city centre and used by loads of office workers on their break?

They all pitched up at our Morrisons on a Saturday morning, which is working parent prime time. Last straw....

BustersOfDoom · 19/04/2012 22:20

I hear you whatme. If I live long enough to collect my pension I'll be doing my shopping mid morning on a Monday. Between Jeremy Kyle and Doctors Grin

RubyLovesMayMay · 19/04/2012 22:34

Are people slaggin' off mi 'ome town agen?

I get all defensive when someone slags off Leeds cause I love it and miss it.

I used to use the Morrisons in Merrion Centre (city centre) got my bag stolen and they used my debit in two nearby pubs Hmm

Still used it for my monthly shop though cos its cheap.

I heard the new Harehills Morrisons is rough as fuck, and I'm from Harehills Grin

No, but seriously, what's with the snobbiness?

workshy · 19/04/2012 22:36

the Harehills one has security tags on the cheese and meat!!!

forgot about that one lol

goingeversoslowlymad · 19/04/2012 22:41

porcamiseria · 19/04/2012 22:46

southeastastra · 19/04/2012 22:48

i love the morrisons at st albans, the vegetables have a 'mister' it's groovy

our local morrisons is boring in comparison

duckdodgers · 19/04/2012 22:48

All the Morrisons Ive ever been in are lovely, but I think a lot of that is to do with the fact I live in Scotland and for years they didnt have a presence here until they took over Safeway so all the stores were made over and a lot of new stores were built.

Tryharder · 19/04/2012 22:50

workshy and ruby the Harehills Morrisons can't be worse than the Seacroft Tesco, surely Wink

I heart Morrisons. My brother works there so I have a 10% discount card so ner.

Beanbagz · 19/04/2012 22:58

Eat in a Morrisons cafe LyssaM . That's got to be risking it a bit.

As for the fish i tried buying it at Kirstall once and it was off before i got it home 3 miles away!

Beanbagz · 19/04/2012 23:01

SingingSands i live in Horsforth too.

waves back Smile

RubyLovesMayMay · 19/04/2012 23:03

Tryharder that whole Seacroft precinct in general

But in all seriousness, I don't mind going to that Tesco up there cos it's huge, even though the Roundhay one is closer to my Mums when I visit

Jealous at your Morrisos discount card though

I heart Morrison's too, but I live in Brum now and Tesco and AsdA are nearest to us.

hermionestranger · 19/04/2012 23:07

Here is what was in my basket today.

1 bunch of tulips
1 bunch of gerberas
1 packet of puff pastry
1 packet of fondant icing (white)
1 packet of multicoloured fondant icing

I was wearing joules and next stuff. Am I scummy?

Not that I give a shite to be honest!

Op get over yourself!

ratspeaker · 19/04/2012 23:39

I know someone who works in a Morrisons
They have been asked
where do you keep the stuff they make ice cubes with?
the ice cube trays are over in homeware , madam
naw naw the stuff you put in they wee trays

you dont have Sainsburys wholemeal bread on your shelves, why not?
umm because we're Morrisons
that happened for over a week until they directed the person up to the other branch that definetely had it in stock ( yes, the Sainsburys up the road )

They regularly had bottles of champagne stolen

bringmesunshine2009 · 20/04/2012 00:05

Our Waitrosecwas a bit busy today and I nearly took out a staff member with the pushchair by mistake. He says to his colleague: "cor, it's like Tescos in here today" Grin

ThatsYouThatIs · 20/04/2012 07:04

I was going to stick up for the seacroft in Leeds but I've just got off of the bus there and had to step over a used condom [boak]

Gauchita · 20/04/2012 07:29

Oooh first time I see so many Mnetters from Leeds on a thread

We have one nearby, and DH sometimes stops there to get something we've forgotten from the online order. He says police officers are there all the time Grin

ledkr · 20/04/2012 07:33

Atreegrowsinbrooklyn · 20/04/2012 07:38

Didn't you know that? Grin

essexgirl31 · 20/04/2012 07:41

I am very fond of Morrisons. Our best local supermarket. I live in Towie central so it is quite glam at times with 'naice cars' in the carpark.
