To think Wine is overrated?

I just don't get what all the fuss is about, I've tried to 'like' it, and wish i did, but I would much prefer a vodka and coke.

DP opens a bottle to have with dinner and I do have a glass but to me, it just tastes like
vinegar! Whenever we go to people's houses for dinner, out comes the wine!

Red wine gives me a splitting headache so I only drink white and rose. Ive tried loads of different bottles but none have really hit the spot. Where am I going wrong? I am determined to enjoy a bottle of wine! I want to know what all the fuss is about.

What do you all drink? I need an inoffensive wine, if that makes sense, nothing overpowering, not too acidic (!) Also a wine that doesn't give you a banging headache the next day! TIA!

YANBU. Most of it doesn't taste very nice.

Mmm, ice cold Chablis.

Most annoyingly (is that an actual word?) I seem to have become allergic to wine

Even half a glass gives me a headache and makes me feel quite ill
I can't have a glass with my Sunday lunch any more
Don't know why it's started to affect me like this

I've moved onto cider instead.

I love wine, but am trying to wean myself on to vodka or gin and tonic when I go out, as the hangovers are less.

YABU. Yes, it is an acquired taste, but once you acquire it...

Ephiny · 23/03/2012 16:22

I can take or leave it, will have a small glass of wine if it's offered (though avoid red as it gives me a headache too), but it wouldn't occur to me to buy it to drink it at home.

Most wines taste pretty much the same to me anyway!

I do like a nice cold beer on a hot day though, that goes down well. Why not just stick to what you like, there's nothing wrong with not liking wine, any more than not liking any other food or drink Confused
