Just seen his face on bbciplayer being interviewed by Mark lawson. When did this skinny smug poo smear become a national treasure or whatever? And don't even l,et me remember the days when he hung out with the Baddiel thing and it was like a version of those boys at school who were nasty little sneering sods, sat in the corner being vile.
sorry. just don't like the man. will not watch room 101 because of him. what was wrong with Paul Merton, now he is nice.

And he was really interesting when he talked to the Archbish.

hackmum · 14/03/2012 13:36

I've always quite liked Frank Skinner, but I honestly think that's because I never watched all that stupid football stuff with David Baddiel - I think that might have put me off him. It's just that whenever I've seen him on chat shows or stuff he's always come across as very engaging. But then when I read something about him, I agree, he always seems quite horrible and misogynist. So there's a weird disjuncture there.

There are people I dislike unequivocally, notably Russell Brand and Frankie Boyle. I can't quite summon up hatred for Michael McIntyre, I just find him very very annoying - a bit like a mosquito buzzing around that you have to slap.

BillyBollyBandy · 14/03/2012 13:36

So to summarise

People who have worked with FS or have read his book generally don't like him

DebbieD does Wink

seeker · 14/03/2012 13:39

Why are we supposed to dislike Michael McIntyre? I've never understood that.

BoomOoYattaTaTa · 14/03/2012 13:49

I can't take too much of McIntyre before I'm reaching for a rolled up newspaper. He does make me laugh for about 10 minutes, then I've had enough. He has interesting hair though. It seems to exist independantly of himGrin

I do (or did) like Russell Brand. I know all the reasons not to, but he did used to make me laugh. When he was here doing comedy. Not since he's sold out and gone to make sausage factory rubbish films in America. He's a parody of himself nowHmm

redrubyshoes · 14/03/2012 13:59

FS's autobiography made me want to go and wash.

lolaflores · 14/03/2012 14:02

well now we know where we all stand on this very important question.

Now then, your thoughts please on Davina McCall. I think that was a good point earlier by someone. She makes me go a bit funny in the head, I hear voices and stuff

VelmaDaphne · 14/03/2012 14:07

I remember Frank Skinner, who was mid-30s at them time I think, saying that he wasn't interested in women over 30 because they were just old and basically yukky.

Elabella1401 · 14/03/2012 14:16

I do find him funny but have definitely picked up a Misogynist vibe. There's definitely a touch of the Jimmy Savile's about him!

londonlottie · 14/03/2012 14:19

Don't get me started.

londonlottie · 14/03/2012 14:20

Re. Davina that is. Let's just say nobody normal laughs at their own jokes quite that much.

lolaflores · 14/03/2012 14:24

she brays like a crack using donkey. chummy matey cheeriness that a baby could see through

OP posts:
kerala · 14/03/2012 15:05

I know people who have worked with Davina and apparently she is really nice. Although the sight of her makes my heart sink as I do her exercise dvds so find myself leaping up into action involuntarily whenever she appears on TV

Bennifer · 14/03/2012 15:05

I like him as a comedian and think he is interesting. He's a bright guy from a working class background (I believe he was doing a PhD in English Literature when he started), and I like that about him.

I've thought about his "misogyny", and I think, in a strange way, that adds to his appeal, in that he's honest about his "darker" thoughts, it makes him a fuller human being. A lot of comedy works by reflecting our darker emotions. Who isn't sometimes self-aggrandising like David Brent, rude like Basi Fawlty, etc?

londonlottie · 14/03/2012 15:23

I have worked with her too kerala and I found her cold, nice yes - but in that sense of having a rictus grin plastered on her face for everyone, but felt quite strongly that she is very much a man's woman. Others I spoke to felt the same way, she ignores most women but is coquettish with the men, guffawing at their every fawning joke.

Slartybartfast · 14/03/2012 15:43

i read in guardian tv guide about her Shark eyes, davina's that is. she is ok but they was right aobut her shark eyes

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 16:51

Davina makes me feel violent.

BelfastBloke · 14/03/2012 17:12

lolaflores says "I remember the book he did about the man with insomnia. went into frnakly unecessary detail about his wife licking his bum hole. Ewwwww"

Well, you obviously don't remember the book. I finished it last week and there wasn't a description of that at all. A frank description of what is the exact appeal of anal sex, but nothing about licking. Or wives, for that matter.

DebbieD78 · 14/03/2012 17:26

I have just dug out Frank Skinners book and I will read it to see what I think.

RustyBear · 14/03/2012 17:37

Have any of you actually ever met him?

KatieScarlett2833 · 14/03/2012 17:49

He really reminds me of Jeremy Kyle looks-wise.

That is not a good thing.

flapperghasted · 14/03/2012 17:54

I just wanted to say, I met Rob Newman and he was socially awkward but quite sweet underneath it. I believe he has had some mental health issues which is why he split up with Baddiel. Of course, I may be seeing the bright side because I fancy the arse of the man find him intellectually stimulating and witty Blush

lolaflores · 14/03/2012 17:56

belfastbloke nearly sure it was, he talked about the ashy taste of his anus. but I stand corrected. rustybear never met the man personally but people on the thread here have worked with him. which i believe counts as meeting him. they were not impressed by and large.

@ ThatllDoPig

Ah yes - the autobiography.

We had a copy sent to the Convent. Strangely, we are not comforted to learn that Francis is a devout Catholic Confused

To paraphrase John Cleese/Basil Fawlty, there is enough material there for a Psychiatrists' convention.
