Just seen his face on bbciplayer being interviewed by Mark lawson. When did this skinny smug poo smear become a national treasure or whatever? And don't even l,et me remember the days when he hung out with the Baddiel thing and it was like a version of those boys at school who were nasty little sneering sods, sat in the corner being vile.
sorry. just don't like the man. will not watch room 101 because of him. what was wrong with Paul Merton, now he is nice.

Oh, I love him. He's going to be a Dad soon. Smile

YouOldSlag · 14/03/2012 11:02

Plus he comes from a relatively humble background, at a time when most comedians are privately educated and from wealthy families.

What comedians are privately educated and come from wealthy backgrounds? I can't name one at all!

WorraLiberty · 14/03/2012 11:02

I really like Frank Skinner when he was funny

Now he's ok but...well that's it really.

BupcakesandCunting · 14/03/2012 11:03

Jack Whitehall is wealthy and from a privately educated background. I love him. Funny AND educated. What's not to like?! I would have a go on him

BupcakesandCunting · 14/03/2012 11:03

Also Alexander Armstrong. would have a go on him too

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2012 11:05

I would imagine Mitchell and Webb, Miranda, Armstrong & Miller and Jack Whitehall didn't come from humble backgrounds. Plus all of the Cambridge Footlights lot.

Marcus Brigstocke, Al Murray are also from a wealthy/private school background. There are plenty of others. Panel shows are full of them.

badtasteflump · 14/03/2012 11:06

YABU - I don't mind him actually. I've not read his autobiography and no nothing about him 'as a person' and can't be arsed to find out but I do like him on Room 101 and his chat show - so there Grin

BupcakesandCunting · 14/03/2012 11:07

What's wrong with being from a wealthy/privately educated background? Bit of inverse snobbery there! There'd be uproar if people were giving Frank Skinner stick for being from a working class background.

seeker · 14/03/2012 11:07

Practically everyone on the telly comes from a privileged background. You don't think Michael McKintyre is an ex miner, do you?

DebbieD78 · 14/03/2012 11:08

"i used to hate him.. now i tolerate him.. he's improved since he ditched the alcohol.. but he is very marmite."
He gave up alcohol in 1987, he always mentions that on the show.

badtasteflump · 14/03/2012 11:08

PS I wouldn't compare any other comedian to Frankie Boyle btw - he is in a hideously scummy little league all of his own.

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2012 11:09

Oh seeker isn't he? Another illusion shattered. Sad

I think comedians are allowed to come from any background as long as they are funny. Grin

Wow- I didn't realise so many comedians were privately educated. but then you've also got John Bishop, Ben Elton, Lenny Henry, Jasper Carrott, Russell Brand, David Baddiel, Jo Caulfield, Ardal o'Hanlon, Jo Brand, Paul Merton, Rhod Gilbert... all from working class or non private school backgrounds.

The point I am trying to make is humble stock or not- I still can't stand Frank Skinner!

redrubyshoes · 14/03/2012 11:12

I loathe him and yes his autobiography sealed his fate for me. His chat show was just a vehicle for his own jokes and I actually felt sorry for Cliff Richard when he appeared on it, he didn't listen to a word he said.

I also think the 'interview' with Tara Palmer Tompkinson should have been cancelled by the producer the second it was noted that she was wasted - not allow her to humiliate herself in front of a television audience.

I get the feeling he would sell his granny for a cheap gag though - TPP found that out.

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2012 11:12

That's ok YouOldSlag. Smile You are allowed if that's how you feel. Who do you like?

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2012 11:12

I thought his autobiography was hilarious. Blush

DebbieD78 · 14/03/2012 11:14

David Baddiel is hardly working class. Nor is Ben Elton. Going to a state school in a catchment area full of 1 million pound houses is just private education by another name.

Most of the other comedians you've named are 50 years old or more. I hate the fact that comedy has been taken over by poshos nowadays. It used to be a working-class form of entertainment. Now its full of people who bash Daily Mail readers/Tories for easy laughs and cheers.

BupcakesandCunting · 14/03/2012 11:16

Seriously Debbie, stop with the posh-bashing. You wouldn't be allowed to mock the working classes in that way so just pack it in. Not on.

Slartybartfast · 14/03/2012 11:16

but there is that very young scottish one, somethign bridges, fs was on his show. i avoid fs if i can but i saw him there,
anywhere i dont think he is privately educated.

nickelhasababy · 14/03/2012 11:16

YABU
i love Frank Skinner.

I would happily have married him.

londonlottie · 14/03/2012 11:17

I don't like him either (although annoyingly he IS funny) - totally third hand but was a freelance in TV production for years and although I never worked on one of his shows, he was the only person everyone LOATHED working with. I've never come across anyone so universally despised by crew and production staff, and listened to many an anecdote about how he'd ritually humiliate people during rehearsals...

redrubyshoes · 14/03/2012 11:20

He has a nasty streak that he struggles to hide.
