Just seen his face on bbciplayer being interviewed by Mark lawson. When did this skinny smug poo smear become a national treasure or whatever? And don't even l,et me remember the days when he hung out with the Baddiel thing and it was like a version of those boys at school who were nasty little sneering sods, sat in the corner being vile.
sorry. just don't like the man. will not watch room 101 because of him. what was wrong with Paul Merton, now he is nice.

List of people I am BAFFLED are so popular/given so much air time

Frank Skinner
Steve Wright
Chris Moyles

Just why oh why? Surely there are more talented people out there denied opportunities because bozos like this are inexplicably employed time and time again.

Not a fan of David Baddiel but his books are good - really good. Obviously a bright guy. Used to live near him and often saw him in our local children's party shop.

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2012 11:23

It could be an act redruby?

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 11:24

Three Lions is a great football anthem though

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2012 11:24

Chris Moyles is fabulous. I really enjoy his radio show. Blush

londonlottie · 14/03/2012 11:26

Although SparklingBrook - as I say, there are plenty of people who have worked with him who can attest to it...

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2012 11:28

Don't spoil any more of my illusions lottie. Sad Grin

DebbieD78 · 14/03/2012 11:32

Stop talking rubbish Lottie.

To me FS epitomizes a type of man for whom the best sound in the world is his own voice at the expense of others. I do find watching difficult cos i do not trust him to behave.

Russell Brand is a psuedo intellectual. Have you heard him on Newsnight coming out with words and then shoe horning them into a sentence in a very earnest way.
If it is about class, then the reason the middle class surge to the top is that many times, there is enough lee way at home to indulge their ambitions.
John Bishop is an example of a jobbing stand up. Peter kaye too. Thte club circuits are diminshing. it has changed and that is reflected in the types we are deluged with.

My latest finding is Oliver and Watson. Their sketch about the cafe where the lady calls everyone darling is hideously patronising. I also feel they are a sop to the call for more women comics
French and Saunders came out of acting school, though the saunders is v.posh. But talented, there is a difference.

Well Sparkling, since you ask, I saw Russell Brand live and he was incredible. i know he's not everyone's cup of tea but he was superb: witty, compassionate, good audience rapport and did a TWO HOUR set with no notes or prompts. It was amazing.

I also like John Bishop, Ardal O'Hanlan, and housewives favourite Michael McIntyre.I like any personable witty person who isn't Frank Skinner! Smile

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2012 11:36

Well you like some funny people YouOldSlag. I love Russell Brand. Grin

lolaflores · 14/03/2012 11:38

I loved smack the pony. i want to see more funny women, Miranda Hart is funny but I coiuld imagine the schtick will dull with time. Everyone so often you see the BBC have a flash of inspiration and go
Lets commission the no tails to make funny talking? cheaper than sending david attenborough to watch gorillas Non?

Excuse me Debbie? Talking rubbish? Please expand on your already beautifully expounded point.

seeker · 14/03/2012 11:50

David Baddeil is Habadasher's and King's, I think. And aren't Ben Elton's parents both academics? Certainly his uncle is a History professor somewhere.

I am old enough to remember all the chat about faux working class credentials at the time.

seeker · 14/03/2012 11:55

lolaflores · 14/03/2012 11:56

Ben Eltons cred was always shaky. his mum was an academic, english lit or whatever. Yeah bernard manning was a dick, thats a given, but I give you Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies, Kenny Everett, Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, all came through variety and hard bloody slog. Not one of them got given a tv show whilst still wet behind the ears.

in the name of even handedness though, not many women in that list. oh does Hattie Jacques count? Babs Windsor,

Seeker - do you really think he's sexy or we're you being sarcastic? Confused

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 12:00

Ben Elton's uncle was Sir Geoffrey Elton, the eminent Tudo historian.

Factoid.

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 12:00

Tudor even.

seeker · 14/03/2012 12:02

No I don't think he's sexy. I rapist aftr I posted thqtnthe sarcasm doesn't quit work!

seeker · 14/03/2012 12:03

Bloody hell- there's an auto correct/typo for you! Blush

wineoclocktimeyet · 14/03/2012 12:04

I, very briefly, worked with Frank Skinner and he was beyond vile - I personally dont like the 'c' word but I think he is the only person I've ever met, that I would call one.

OrmIrian · 14/03/2012 12:06

I wasn't keen on him I must admit. But DH likes Room 101 so have been watching him silently cursing at him. But I have to confess to have started to feel a sneaking affection for him. He seems to have a quirkily positive and generous take on the world.

Vaffanculo · 14/03/2012 12:09

Thank you seeker, I haven't seen that in years Grin

londonlottie · 14/03/2012 12:11

Thank you wineoclock - although sorry you had to experience him being so vile. When I worked in entertainment/comedy production, getting the call to do the FS show was one of those jobs you dreaded being available for and needing to say yes...
