I've never been over there, but am curious. It seems to get a fair bit of withering comment from users here. - 'you should put that on netmums' in response to a particularly inane or bigotted comment.

It is sometimes referred to as Nethuns - is that because they are a bit Nazi in their views?

The similar names amuse me though - it is like the Judean People's Front and the People's Front of Judea in the Life of Brian

I have a confession to make re NM. I kept logging on to try to find the bit where the feisty women with funky nicknames said funny things and "fuck". But I could never find it. I could only find when i could link from an email they sent to me. Until one day, someone on NM said they were sick of this, and were going to MN. Then the penny dropped.Blush

But which one of you is Citizen Smith (The Tories, putting the "n" back into cuts.)? Is that you, crazynanna?

BibiBlocksberg · 12/03/2012 19:44

This thread has made me 'lol' hunnie's

I still chuckle at the comment someone posted on here a while back about NM saying 'they're all hunning themselves over there'

I love the straight talk here, unlike anywhere else I've ever come across on t'interwebs.

moonblushtomato · 12/03/2012 19:55

From what I have seen on NM the punters seem to be alot younger on the whole and maybe not as educated/articulate as some on MN??

Present company excepted obviouslyGrin

Again IMO Netmums=twee Mumsnet=edgy

ConfusedCan't think of a better way of putting it but then that's because I'm not very articulate. Maybe MN will rub off on me one day............

DinahMoHum · 12/03/2012 19:59

i actually thought it was the same site. until now

PonderingButterfly · 19/02/2017 23:48

Boo..I know this is a forever years ago thread. But oh well. But I was curious myself, I'm on both. Joined Netmums last year, for professional serious (hahha) sounding advice and I'm here since last week or so because I can talk nonsense without sounding like a thesaurus smart ass word using mamma.

CaoNiMa · 20/02/2017 06:35

Huh?

spidey66 · 20/02/2017 07:30

MN cracks me up sometimes.

A few days ago, someone posted sking if you'd judge someone for having their kids removed by SS. Most MNers said ''no way'' and yet here go....judging a whole website.

Disclaimer....I don't post there, only because it's more geared towards kids than here and I don't have kids.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/02/2017 07:35

Some MN posters look down their noses at NM, ridiculous on an internet forum really, considering them less intelligent and fluffy (for merely on occasion using the word hun).

I accidentally joined before I found MN and the difference is rather stark. Generally speaking I would say that the intellectual capacity of the average MN demograph is higher than that of NM. I have learned so much here about so many issues but NM is more about assuring each other that they are amazing mumma's because they bought Tia-Rose Converse boots for her 3 month old birthday.

NM posters are more prone to be living in FOG and minimise abuse. I remember someone posting that her "hubby" had strangled her, she was really scared etc and someone replied "Oh hun, that sounds scary, but you know how men are! Maybe make him a cuppa and then he'll feel better, he's probably had a bad day at work xxx"

meganorks · 20/02/2017 08:16

I don't think I looked enough at the content to decide they were less intelligent. But certainly it seemed a bit useless for honest advice. Just lots of agreeing and self congratulation interspersed with a heavy splattering of 'hun'. And the bloody twee sign offs: mummie to a little princess 3 yrs 2 months etc etc all in different colours, fonts jumping about just made my teeth itch.
I found netmums first when searching for some advice on something or other and was genuinely thinking 'what fresh he'll is this?! If this is what being a mother is going to be all about we are not going to fit in'
A friend later told me (don't think I was asking!) I would like mumsnet. They were right. Honest advice and a lot of swearing and I was in!

TinfoilHattie · 20/02/2017 08:17

Have been on both.

In my experience, Netmums has a readership/poster who are younger, less educated, more working class. Like their bling and sparkle and call people "hunni".

Mumsnetters in general are older, better educated (much higher quality of debate and argument than from the Netmums crowd), more geographically spread out, far less tolerant of wooo chat about ghosts and psychics, and there;s none of the MLM shite you get on Netmums.

londonrach · 20/02/2017 08:20

Never been over to netmums. Is it worth it?

londonrach · 20/02/2017 08:21

Zombie! 👻👻👻👻👹👹👹👹👻👻👻

TinfoilHattie · 20/02/2017 08:26

This post is from 2012 confused zombie alert!

Still very true though!

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 20/02/2017 08:50

Thinking I've been on a different netmums to all of you or I have just gotten good at finding the trolls and arguments Grin

Biggest difference is over there you can't call a twat a twat. People report you if you say something they don't like. Bypassing the swear filter (typing "b1tch" for example) will get you banned. And if you dare say anything remotely feminist you get beaten with a big stick Grin

Oh, and anything remotely "controversial" always end up in a mud slinging!

Purplebluebird · 20/02/2017 08:59

I actually met my best friend on Netmums - they have a local "notice board" where you can look for mums in your area. I signed up on it when I moved to my new area. However, I don't use the forum. It feels a bit fluffy to me.

fuxxake · 20/02/2017 09:05

Ugh my god! I've just spent ages reading the damn thread before realised it was from 2012. F's sake 😠🙄

fuxxake · 20/02/2017 09:06

Some posts did however make me snigger Grin
