I've never been over there, but am curious. It seems to get a fair bit of withering comment from users here. - 'you should put that on netmums' in response to a particularly inane or bigotted comment.

It is sometimes referred to as Nethuns - is that because they are a bit Nazi in their views?

The similar names amuse me though - it is like the Judean People's Front and the People's Front of Judea in the Life of Brian

I'm an ex nm, hence the name innit. It's so edited over there, you can't be brutally honest with someone who is being a twat without your post getting deleted. Much better over here....

duckdodgers · 11/03/2012 08:35

Just saw a post on that thread with a ticker - linking to the.... cats birthday, wtaf? ShockGrin

CuttedUpPear · 11/03/2012 10:05

I have done the TV post on AIBU now...stand well back

youarekidding · 11/03/2012 10:08

oh CuttedUpPear I was about to volunteer - got here and you'd done it.

Well rather your flamed arse than mine. Grin

ebbandflow · 11/03/2012 10:08

I think of netmums as being a bit of a younger audience-but maybe I am wrong?

lesley33 · 11/03/2012 10:11

cutteduppear's post was quickly called out as made up. As she said - nobody on netsmum thought it wasn't real. And I think it was.

Although in all honesty you do get some daft posters on here too. I just think there are more intelligent regular posters on mumsnet who quickly say that the OP is being out of order.

Goawaybob · 11/03/2012 10:13

cutteduppear you beat me to it Grin Where is yours?

CuttedUpPear · 11/03/2012 10:14

Was it made up? Oh. [stupid]
Well I am off to find some burns ointment for my bum now.

Wish you had done it you are kidding maybe my style of presentation needs work!

CuttedUpPear · 11/03/2012 10:16

This is it but it won't last long as I have reported myself in a fit of piety!

lesley33 · 11/03/2012 10:18

No sorry I don't think it was made up on netsmum. I just meant some posters on here said - I bet this is made up when you posted it on here.

Goawaybob · 11/03/2012 10:19

Figgygal · 11/03/2012 10:41

Ooh ive never had the pleasure of the "other side" i am off to check out the wonders of the tickers.

JustHecate · 11/03/2012 10:48

There is no difference.

Well, the places look different. You can swear on here but not there. You can argue more on here than there, but fundamentally they are the same place - somewhere for people, many of whom are parents, to chat.

I hate all this MN v NM crap. It's a huge pile of shit.

Someone on the internet is talking. On another site.

Big. Fucking. What.

It's like there are people out there who are so pathetic that they think that only the site that they frequent should exist. Or that there is something wrong with people who choose to use a different site from the one they use. Or something.

Get a grip for crying out loud Grin we should all just enjoy wherever the hell we are and leave other people the frick alone!

PingPongBallsRMoving · 11/03/2012 10:52

NetMums is deathly quiet in comparison to Mumsnet. On NetMums there is no swearing, people are nicer, but in an annoying way at times. Mumsnet HQ seem to have their favourite members, people are given preferential treatment that side is very weird and Envy.

Pagwatch · 11/03/2012 10:53

I hate the 'them and us' stuff too.
Lots of sensible people have been active on both. I hate the mocking. It's like fucking dimwitted foot supporters.

As a joke - a fruit shoots shorthand type thing - it's harmless. But goading another group of people just because they post on a different site is infantile.

Pagwatch · 11/03/2012 10:53

[humourless]

antsypants · 11/03/2012 10:56

I am on there for some bits and piece reasons but cannot stand the forums, it's the equivalent of public transport, you can't govern who gets on and you have to seethe in silence as they parent loudly and then look to make eye contact for an eye roll or reassuring glance.

Much prefer here, before I knew about this place I posted there, my feminist views about the world were much appreciated, I believe someone once hinted towards me being a lesbian... I got a warning because I had replied quoting a post that was removed after I had posted Grin

Goawaybob · 11/03/2012 10:56

To be fair i did just find a couple of sensible nice threads, trouble is, i come here to vent my spleen and quite happy to be flamed for it, nice is OK, but its not honest.

I think its an age thing, i just imagine that us old bags are more worn down by the world around us and that Netmums are probably alot more happy niave than some of us!

JustHecate · 11/03/2012 10:57

Yes Pag. Particularly when you see how people react when MN is targeted. When we get 'invaded' or the piss taken out of the site - there are people who hit the roof.

Yet we - as a site - do it to other groups.

It's not ok.

From anyone.

antsypants · 11/03/2012 11:00

The thing is, even if it is a bunch of people who like reassuring themselves that they are doing okay or writing in text abbreviations, so what?

People talking is better than someone sitting at home on the edge with no-one to talk to, and they do seem to have quite a good network of professionals to advise...

Depends what you want from a forum, I want drinks after work with my work colleague forums...
