To think I am as invisible on MN as I am at home?

You know how it is, you speak.. no-one appears to hear, you clean, no-one cares, you cook, its yucky etc etc etc.
Well yes and I just accepted that as part of the motherhood deal, but thought MN was somewhere I might get noticed/ heard/ interacted with, but so many times I post and never get a thanks or even a WTF? I am beginning to feel like I am still at home............. anyone out there?

Pag - are you the real Pag under a slight name change or just a similar name?

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 24/02/2012 19:09

Well, you've been brave enough to start a thread and got 21 replies in under ten minutes, well done.
Are you still there?

FruitShootsAreALittleHorrit · 24/02/2012 19:10

I like not being known although it is nice to be noticed and your post to be acknowledged.

I often write out a reply and then delete it because I just don't know quite what to say, or am afraid of putting something stupid.

Then someone braver comes along and puts more or less what I was going to say in the first place!

Keep posting, it's the little replies and Grin's that make you realise most people are reading what you post.

flapperghasted · 24/02/2012 19:11

I've been on MN for years and I've killed many an interesting thread (ie, I've made a comment, witty and urbane - in my head, but clearly dull as ditchwater in reality as no-one's bothered to answer/respond in any way). If I'm pmt-ish, it gets to me. The rest of the time I can shrug it off.

YANBU, but perhaps a little sensitive. Hi though and feel free to post comments on any of my threads if you find em:)

Hello. I can see you!

As others have said, its not personal.

There are some brilliant Mumsnetters, and some excellent ding-dongs in AIBU - best enjoyed from the sidelines and in relative obscurity.

SunflowersSmile · 24/02/2012 19:16

Name changing makes one feel invisible for awhile but sort of freeing at the same time. I sort of potter about Mn...

Pagwaatch · 24/02/2012 19:16

Yes, yes it's me.

But it's not working is it? People are all Confused

Everytime I post I get 'is that you or some dull fucker

Are you trying to be in disguise then Pag? because it's not a very good one Grin

SpringingAllTheWay · 24/02/2012 19:19

Can you revert back to your 'proper' name?

RabidEchidna · 24/02/2012 19:20

All you need to do to get noticed is go to AIBU and post as follows...

AIBU to park in a Disabled parking bay, leave the kids in the car eating greggs sausage rolls and drinking fruit shoots, while I pop in to Tesco for my copy of bumsex weekly? Well we had just got back from holiday, went in term time cause its cheaper. Left the staffie in the car with the kids to.

I promise you will be noticed Grin

Jeannie I really would love to see you (and anyone else in Plurkers). Give us a go! You know you want to. :)

Pagwaatch · 24/02/2012 19:22

It is the shittest name change ever isn't it?

See, there is a downside to having some people recognizing you. You can't be an asshole (well not too much), post when really drunk (too often) or add an a.

I've been here on and off for four years now and I think one or two may recognise me from the Childcare forums for being a persistent pain in the arse and from some of my more ignorant posts when I was younger and naive, but other than that no one else would. But the forums are so big that it's to be expected. For all you know, a couple of weeks/months/years down the line somebody may look over a thread you've been on and find your advice or question or comment useful, that's what I like about this place!

  • Me too!
SunflowersSmile · 24/02/2012 19:24

I name change if I have given too much local like info. Have been caught ou by a Mum at school. Don't like name changing much so should be more careful. Would feel uncomfortable knowing people in RL knew who I was. Silly really as say bugger all of interest or great importance!
