To think I can't possibly go back to this martial arts class even though it wasn't my fault?

Have to be brief as on my way out but I started a martial arts class after new year and LOVED it and have graded once already. Anyway last Friday instructor asked me to help him demonstrate something and wanted me to attack him. I got way over excited (medical issue) and screamed at him "come on you bastard!" and went for him really aggressively. Everyone gasped and the instructor didn't even demonstrate what he wanted to demonstrate, just restrained me and eventually asked me to "take a breather" in the changing rooms. He came in (unisex) to see me 10 minutes later and I explained my medical condition and he said it was absolutely fine and that he just wanted to make sure I was ok. I was but I'm so embarrassed that I can't see myself ever going again which is gutting because I really loved it and it took a lot of courage to go in the first place. He has since called me and asked why I wasn't there on Wednesday and I told him I'm still mortified at what I did and he laughed it off saying everyone has forgetten about it as competitions are coming up and everyone's mind is on that.
AIBU to think he's just saying that to make me feel better and I will be the talk of the dojo for weeks/months to come?

Sorry but Grin

Go back. You may get a couple of funny looks but hold your head high. Please don't give up something you love out of embarrassment.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 23/02/2012 16:46

Bless ya but in the nicest possible way you are flattering yourself and it's yesterdays chip paper :)

Go back holding your head up high! You love it, would be a shale to give it up!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 23/02/2012 16:47

shame obv!

nickelDorritt · 23/02/2012 16:48

just go!
it was funny, it will be forgotten.

ExitPursuedByaBear · 23/02/2012 16:49

Grin oh that is hilarious.

On the fence really - if you loved the class then tough it out, but people will remember.

recall · 23/02/2012 16:50

I too am sorry but Grin

OriginalJamie · 23/02/2012 16:52

I am trying to picture how he came in "unisex".

Have never said this before, but your name puts me right off.

EauDeLaPoisson · 23/02/2012 16:54

What medical condition causes you to yell bastard at someone? I could do with knowing this

OldGreyWiffleTest · 23/02/2012 16:55

Don't worry about it. Next time you are partnered with someone they will just think "she's a right hard nut" and go all hands whirring.........and probably flatten you!

Seriously, don't worry about it and certainly don't give up something you enjoy.

FecalVomit · 23/02/2012 16:55

It isn't funny, I made a total twat of myself, there were kids in the room too.

I meant he came in the unisex changing rooms.

5Foot5 · 23/02/2012 16:56

Golly! Do you sometimes have to pair off in the class to try things out? Do you think you will have trouble finding anyone willing to pair off with you in future?

recall · 23/02/2012 16:57

FecalVomit It is very funny, but in a good way

Trills · 23/02/2012 16:57

I'm just nosey as to what medical condition makes you get "over-excited" and need to be restrained.

Are you sure it is safe for you to be in a martial arts class? What if you were practising sparring with another student and got "over-excited" and they weren't able to restrain you (because they are just another student like you)?

ExitPursuedByaBear · 23/02/2012 16:57

Oh no, it could be loss of bladder control time again Grin Grin Grin

I am crying

FecalVomit · 23/02/2012 17:00

Yes we have to pair up which isn't as bad because although I have swore at partners and said inappropriate things before it's never been as "public" as that. I now have visions of them all getting together after that class discussing all the weird shit I've said to people over the past few weeks.

GrinGrinGrin sorry OP but it is funny....

FecalVomit · 23/02/2012 17:01

Trills I only got so excited because I was nervous at being centre of attention. I'm not normally as bad as that.

OP posts:
Trills · 23/02/2012 17:01

So you'll only swear, not be violent at them? I mean, no more violent and no less controlled in your violence than you are supposed to be.

FecalVomit · 23/02/2012 17:02

No I'm never usually violent unless I have liquid near me.

Trills · 23/02/2012 17:03

I forgot to actually answer the question:

YABU to think you couldn't possibly go back, because of course it is possible.

And I think you should go back.
