I saw a nice top whilst out today, and i do like it alot, but i would also want a white pair of jeans to go with them. I like the top a lot, but i am not sure about paying £35 for it. I am trying to save for rent in advance and a deposit, but it looks like the council will have to house me. I am going for a family meal on sunday as well and have nothing to wear.

Is £35 a stupid amount to spend on a top? And should i just get a different colour to avoid buying a new pair of jeans?

Think i really need someone to say, no buy it for yourself...but doubt you will. Talk me into/ out of it please. So undecided!

Not me new saucepan, but me knives are. Saucepan is now in the kitchen. Have a couple of bits that have been given to me/ bought for christmas. Old kettles etc, up there ready. But trying to save so hard. Even somewhere fully furnished wont have everything like bedding etc? Someone has very kindly given me a duvet set, cos they got it off a market stall and it was a double and their bed is a king size, though i think secretly it was done purposefully but not complaining!

I just checked when Mother's Day is. It's not until 18th March. Which is very nearly a month away. With all due respect, what the fuck are you doing spending even a penny on tat for yourself Mother's Day when it is a month away? Mother's Day is just that: a day for people to appreciate their mothers. It's not a whole month.

Yep, get a grip sounds about right. And re-reading your thread title, I actually think this shows just how money unconscious you are.

"Little luxuries"? For heaven's sake, grow up. This would be ridiculous spending in your situation.

I'm working and housed, and I wouldn't even dream of spending £35 on a top.

MyLittleMiracle · 22/02/2012 21:11

And for easter...cheeky i know, but i am going to download pictures of eggs to colour in, and not bother about eggs etc. He is too little to know and wont do my waist band any good!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that most people don't buy themselves anything for mothers day though......Something for their mum, maybe, but its essentially a made up 'holiday' to sell more cards, so why would you buy yourself something.

But really, I can tell from the tone of your replies that you know yourself that this behaviour is not helping you, and as you said in your OP, what you really want is for someone to say 'no, you're right, you should buy it if you want'. That is unlikely to happen, I'm afraid.

Nagoo · 22/02/2012 21:14

I'm just marking my place.

I feel like I have fallen down a hole and out the other side.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 22/02/2012 21:14

You know all that stuff in your head?

You dont have to write it/say it out loud you know.

Its ok to keep some of it in.

HTH.

BTW Topshop is a rip off and the clothes are over priced and dreaful quality.

HTH too.

MyLittleMiracle · 22/02/2012 21:14

Probably right. Stupid. Shuldnt even have looked, Just saw it in the window, walking past it and shouldnt have even thought about it. BUT on the upside i didnt buy it!!!!!

This thread is either funny or tragic. Hmm actually is it both?

35 for a top when you haven't got a house is the most ridiculous thing I've heard all day...

MyLittleMiracle · 22/02/2012 21:17

I wanted someone to tell me stop being stupid. No one bothered buying me anything for mothers day last year. NO ONE. So i done it myself this year! It is a made up holiday but i suppose it was a cleanser, my ex always told me how LO hated me, didnt love me, i was a crap mum etc etc, so it is nice to see it there. Stupid i know!

:o MrsDV

Primark will be your friend, OP. Tops don't cost £35 in Primark.

EauDeLaPoisson · 22/02/2012 21:21

How does buying yourself a gift when you don't have a roof over your head prove your worth as a mother??

MyLittleMiracle · 22/02/2012 21:22

Primarks it is then...any other really cheap places. I used to when i lived u north. live close to a market, so got most my stuff from there at between6 and 10 pound a top!

I always feel guilty spending money on me!

RemainsOfTheDay · 22/02/2012 21:22

Wow. This thread really is children having children :(

If I didn't have anywhere to live I would not be spending 99p on tat. Nor would I be buying things for a house I didn't have Hmm

All this money adds up! And it adds up to being homeless!

LineRunner · 22/02/2012 21:22

One thing I know, MyLitleMiracle, is that you are not stupid.

Please stop saying that you are.

Smile
Floggingmolly · 22/02/2012 21:22

What do you mean "the council will assist with private rented"? Are you homeless?

CreepyWeeBrackets · 22/02/2012 21:24

It would be nice if the only thing you bought for Mothers Day was a card for your own mum who has been housing you all this time.

And for the love of God stop typing people's RL names in your posts. Again. Please.

PoohBearsHole · 22/02/2012 21:25

warren you always make me laugh, cos I think you are who I think you are iyswim. I have no sodding idea who the op is but agree with MrsDV (as usual......I am like a sheep Grin and I love her)

tethersend · 22/02/2012 21:27

I can't possibly comment unless you link to the top...
