to think Tesco should fucking well PAY THEIR STAFF?

QueenOfFlippingEverything · 16/02/2012 16:32

I know, I know, there have been threads about it already.

But this is so rage-inducing, I want THE WHOLE OF EVERYONE to know about it.

Jobcentre advert placed by Tesco for night shift staff. Who will be paid [drumroll] JSA (£67 a week) plus travel expenses.

Why the fucking fuck should Tesco get their staff for free? Why? Their profits last year were something like £3.5 billion last year!

I know who I think is taking the piss here, and its not the unemployed people who will be forced to work night shifts at Tesco for their £67 a week Angry

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 18/02/2012 22:36

bloody hell re casual sexism of that last...

catgirl1976 · 18/02/2012 22:37

do we know yet if any MNers have managed to threaten their husbands with congealed breakfast if they do not pull their companies out of WORKFARE?

Seriously? What year is it??? Hmm

molepom · 18/02/2012 22:39

Ignore that comment, stay focused and keep up with the pressure.

Nilgiri · 18/02/2012 22:42

@shivmalik1 from the Grauniad has been asking on Twitter to hear from anyone on workfare. I know your experience wasn't the current scheme, carernotasaint, but might well be worth getting in touch anyway.

NunOnTheRun · 18/02/2012 22:43

minimathsmouse

Torygraph, cont'd.

Now Ms Cristina Odone weighs in (no pun intended - for those who click the link) on the subject of the undeserving poor.

Without wishing to be nasty/venture into the realms of bad taste, the deserving majority are being hurt by the new welfare reforms. Their families want to fight for them as much as the late Lorenzo Odone's family fought to help him.

Nilgiri · 18/02/2012 22:45

talkin, I'm struggling with your "husband" angle as well. Any of us involved ourselves or with any connections will be rethinking this, I'm sure.

carernotasaint · 18/02/2012 22:47

It was the comment "jobs snobs" in the recent Chris Grayling article that has really made me see Red!

NunOnTheRun · 18/02/2012 22:48

@Molepom Nun, that link has been twitted, FB'd and posted on a few pages on FB regarding workfare just now by me, thanks for that link. "It was a mistake", honest guv.

Superb Thanks

Nilgiri · 18/02/2012 22:49

And here's Shiv Malik's email: [email protected]

TalkinPeace2 · 18/02/2012 22:50

it is a perfectly straight comment

there was a thread about high earners a while back and there appear to be clusters of MN posters whose DHs are FTSE250 directors
(statistically it cannot be the MN posters themselves as women are so crassly under represented in top boardrooms AND any boards with a decent number of women on it would have had more sense than to sign up for this)
SO
If you have family connections to the boards of any of the companies involved in workfare
LEAN ON THEM TOO
not sexist or outdated, just pragmatic and lateral thinking

and now you have to suply your own h+s equiment!

MrsTESCEO · 18/02/2012 22:53

Totally unacceptable sexism. MrTESCEO couldn't fucking well do his job if it wasn't for me. No need to let his breakfast congeal, I could just fuck off and leave him with the task of having to find childcare all week and look after them all weekend. Perhaps he would annex a non-CRB-checked workfare person to look after his precious relatives? I think fucking not!

carernotasaint · 18/02/2012 22:53

Does anyone know who John Rentoul is. Hes bleating about how great Tesco is on twitter and is using the hashtag #doyourworsttwitter.
Looks like the gauntlet has been thrown down.

catgirl1976 · 18/02/2012 22:54

talkin I am just Shock

you dont think any MN posters are board members?

yeah I just bke cupcakes all day Hmm

carernotasaint · 18/02/2012 22:56

Please please can we not let this get off topic. That would be just what they want.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 18/02/2012 22:56

of course it's sexist. Hmm

molepom · 18/02/2012 22:56

johns a troll, ignore him. He's on the tesco FB page complimenting tesco on the scheme and calling every one stupid lefties. He's basically got nothing better to do. He's getting abuse on FB too.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 18/02/2012 22:56

'they'?

molepom · 18/02/2012 22:57

Sod the sexist comment - FOCUS and help us get this stopped. Leave it for another day, then bring it up when there is nothing better to talk about.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 18/02/2012 22:57
