to think Tesco should fucking well PAY THEIR STAFF?

I know, I know, there have been threads about it already.

But this is so rage-inducing, I want THE WHOLE OF EVERYONE to know about it.

Jobcentre advert placed by Tesco for night shift staff. Who will be paid [drumroll] JSA (£67 a week) plus travel expenses.

Why the fucking fuck should Tesco get their staff for free? Why? Their profits last year were something like £3.5 billion last year!

I know who I think is taking the piss here, and its not the unemployed people who will be forced to work night shifts at Tesco for their £67 a week Angry

Its a disgrace to force people to work when they are Terminally Ill,

Can you imagine what thats like? I hope none of you myself included ever experience that, but its just beyond words!

You mean MN's suggested to cut Tax Credits?

Not MN, two MNers Kate.

Found this

IDS is not a happy bunny. Grin

GobHoblin · 18/02/2012 22:09

Just had automated response from Salvation Army on twitter.

'We offer opportunities for unemployed people to improve work skills & confidence, but not exploitation to increase profits'.

minimathsmouse · 18/02/2012 22:14

MolPom Tax credits are vital to my family too, every bloody penny goes on food, the irony. However I would much prefer DH was paid a decent wage and his private health care employer wasn't being subsidised to pay low wages. Yep another private hospital sucking funds out of the NHS budget and making profits, don't ask.

Nil, it suggests that they knew they would get opposition, they knew the public would find this repugnant, so much so that they have silenced people!

Is is this why people thought Tesco had pulled out despite no evidence and no proof, then Chris Grayling spoke on the radio, now nothing.

Nilgiri · 18/02/2012 22:15

Ooh, just seen you tweet about the DWP fight-back!

Grayling is spinning like a top.

molepom · 18/02/2012 22:16

Gob, hammer them with the fact that these schemes are in direct violation of the human rights act 1998. Found on the Direct Gov website, not to mention the EU Law set out by the UN that states the very same thing.

Tell them to get their lawyers ready.

minimathsmouse · 18/02/2012 22:19

IDS and his gestapo buddy not happy makes me veryGrin

What an incredibly skewed report from the Torygraph.

Nilgiri · 18/02/2012 22:20

For the record, Mr Grayling, me and my reyther nice degree have done voluntary work and cleaned toilets for a living between professional jobs, and I'm still vehemently opposed to workfare.

Not a job snob. Just a morality snob.

NunOnTheRun · 18/02/2012 22:20

Chris Grayling: "The critics are job snobs."

IDoNotLIKEFun · 18/02/2012 22:22

"Workfare and Workhouse are very similar words and frankly pretty similar concepts. I am NEVER voting Tory again!"

Excellent post, MoreBeta. Very heartening Smile

You have said that tax credits should go too and posters have responded that they need them (as do I) but do you mean that tax credits shouldn't be necessary? I certainly agree with that.

NunOnTheRun · 18/02/2012 22:23

AIBU to post this linky? Grin

Nilgiri · 18/02/2012 22:23

Torygraph: "Mr Grayling said that 20,000 young people have already moved off benefits after finding full-time jobs after taking up work experience organised by jobcentres."

So "after", not "through", eh Graylie-boy?

GobHoblin · 18/02/2012 22:24

I'm a jobsnob? I work for feckin B&Q lol

IDoNotLIKEFun · 18/02/2012 22:25

YANBU. I shall give him a ring on Monday.

minimathsmouse · 18/02/2012 22:27

I'm really irritated with the torygraph now, so tempted to post on their FB page. They should be ashamed of themsleves, that report smacks of propaganda.

IDoNotLIKEFun · 18/02/2012 22:27

I thought that, "workfare provides thousands of people with routes into permanent employment" was very sneakily-worded. Given that not quite 300 people out of thousands have been offered this Hmm

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 18/02/2012 22:28

just flag this re the NHS bill as well a looooong list of (mostly) tories who stand to benefit from privatisation.

Nilgiri · 18/02/2012 22:28

Thanks to all the Twitter-stormers, btw. You guys are smokin'!

carernotasaint · 18/02/2012 22:31

What an utter utter cunt. If he fuckin keeps on it i will be phoning the Guardian and telling them that i ended up in the sex industry because of workfare.

molepom · 18/02/2012 22:33

Nun, that link has been twitted, FB'd and posted on a few pages on FB regarding workfare just now by me, thanks for that link. "It was a mistake", honest guv.

GobHoblin · 18/02/2012 22:34

Thanks Molpom :o)

molepom · 18/02/2012 22:34

Carer - do it! Millions will thank you for it.

TalkinPeace2 · 18/02/2012 22:34

interesting the almost total news blackout - but then it is the weekend

time to start emailing the business and money editors of all the papers and radio stations so that on Monday morning their inboxes are ROASTING
along with those of all the companies who are SO looking forward to next week - NOT

but interesting that we've been getting corporate responses on the FB pages even over the weekend.
the worm is turning

do we know yet if any MNers have managed to threaten their husbands with congealed breakfast if they do not pull their companies out of WORKFARE?

Voidka · 18/02/2012 22:35

@boycottworkfare Hi, the position advertised is incorrect. We have asked Jobcentre Plus to remove this position to avoid any confusion.
