they are heroically accomplishing while being SAHMs (cooking, washing, ironing, etc) are being at best naive and at worst disingenuous. Who do they think does all that stuff in the non-SAHMs' households, house elves?

God just got home, five minutes on and there isn't even a decent SAHM/WOHM thread. The list above looks like a shit cable channel listings though, someone tell me which one?

Straddling the fence as a part time W0HM I'd just like to point out that being at home all day with preschoolers creates a LOT more housework than dropping them off at nursery for the day where someone else cooks all their meals and clears the paint from the walls/wee out of the carpet.

Today is one of my SAHM days and I'm taking them to McDonalds for lunch because I can't face the mess. So shoot me!

I don't know about you, but I met very few nannies and even fewer cleaners, who were doing their jobs because they had a calling for it. Have a chat with one next time you meet them - ask what their aspirations are/have been - you'll be surprised. Do you really think the majority of SAHMs's dream when they were growing up was to be a cleaner/nanny?

Yes some women fetishise housework imo - not just sahm necessarily either. Watch some of the wife swaps you can see the extreme examples of this in action.

Having kids at home all day creates a lot more housework.

Working part time as I do now, I do housework that I didn't bother with before e.g. washing curtains, make more meals from scratch, etc.

And tbh I knwo I do more the busier I am - either at work or home. So when my dcs were young - they are teenagers now - I was often rushinga round to accomplish things. Now I do tend to do things at a slower pace at home.
