they are heroically accomplishing while being SAHMs (cooking, washing, ironing, etc) are being at best naive and at worst disingenuous. Who do they think does all that stuff in the non-SAHMs' households, house elves?

Oh, we had a girl's name already. You will have to wait until she's born to take the piss Grin

jellybeans · 08/02/2012 16:39

I think anyone who openly sneers at SAHM/WOHM is jealous and not sure of their own decision. Maybe subconsciously. Most of us think we are doing what is best for us at the time and many of us have been both at varied times or are students/part time workers.

I do housework if it needs doing or if i can be bothered but it is harder now than when DD was at nursery fulltime, as if they are not home all day, they are not trashing the place.

Hullygully · 08/02/2012 16:45

Is it Princess Tiaaaaa-Milla-FrillyPink?

Pagwaatch · 08/02/2012 16:50

Ahhhh, a girl..

tethersend · 08/02/2012 17:09

You guessed it, Hully. Bugger. Back to the drawing board.

I know, Pag... Am getting excited now Smile

Hullygully · 08/02/2012 17:23

When might she pop?

TheBluehoneyDragon · 08/02/2012 17:51

ALL MOTHERS ARE FUCKING ARSEHOLES THE FUCKERS!

tethersend · 08/02/2012 18:46

Oooh, I know the answer to that one, Hully- cs booked for 18th May.

Honeydragon · 08/02/2012 18:59

Ooooh May. Good choice for a bitch session about badly planned conceptions. Tethers a birthday like that ruins a school career.

tethersend · 08/02/2012 19:02

Tell me about it.

I'm a teacher and a May birthday massively fucks up my maternity leave.

Still, one less years' childcare to find, eh? Wink

slowburner · 08/02/2012 19:05

Is standing in the corner as instructed by parisianwife

FT researcher, PT SAHM, yup I write lists while running for cover and swearing

Honeydragon · 08/02/2012 19:17

Adds

AIBU to think teachers should not be allowed Maternity leave as it fucks up little Sebastian's education and I don't think it is appropriate for teachers to have sex, the whores, won't someone think of the children?

To the list

KittyFane · 08/02/2012 19:39

All that baking, blogging, washing, horseriding, shopping, lunching, talking, cleaning, dropping (DC) off, picking (DC) up, party organising, PTA going make up a full diary for the SAHM with DC at school
Just don't moan to me about being run ragged that's all

clicarhel · 08/02/2012 19:42

Well, I am not a mum yet, but all this SAHM vs WOHM and how 'hard' each of them works is really silly.

Look, if you're the sort of person who loves being paid to do a job employed by somebody else or being self-employed, then being a sahm is hard work for you.

Similarly, if you're the sort of person who loves being home with kids then going out to work is hard work for you.

Hard work is doing something that you're not particularly fond of. It wouldn't be hard if you loved it. It would be heaven!

So, yes, if you really, really find housework and childcare day-in-day out a necessary evil, doing the washing-up is an achievement.

The person who enjoys what they do never works again in their life. The definition of hard work is doing something day-in-day out that you're not particularly fond of.

kens123 · 08/02/2012 20:00

Housework is hardly even tiring. Too many people here are green with envy for some reason

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/02/2012 20:01

i thought it was fattist day today, but this thread just sneaked in

Hullygully · 08/02/2012 20:02

Ooo 18th May

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/02/2012 20:03

i thought you meant 18th May was National Fattist Day there

CremeEggThief · 08/02/2012 20:21

What? You mean I can't come on here boasting about FINALLY cleaning my skirting boards??? It's taken me 13 months (since my job ended) of thinking about it, and today, I did it; well, at least two thirds of them (3 storey house).

justhavintheone · 08/02/2012 20:55

was away for a while, when i come back i have been bopped on the head!
so im in the corner pondering my part time ways, being at home is tedious as is being at work, no hope for me.

justhavintheone · 08/02/2012 21:02

and been called a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT!! the shame.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 08/02/2012 21:20

Fanjo - every day is fattist day, seemingly - and some people wonder why some of us don't want to go to meet ups?!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/02/2012 21:23

Chipping, I agree, some shocking attitudes on here

Honeydragon · 08/02/2012 21:45

Shocking attitudes everywhere about size Sad
