they are heroically accomplishing while being SAHMs (cooking, washing, ironing, etc) are being at best naive and at worst disingenuous. Who do they think does all that stuff in the non-SAHMs' households, house elves?

What about part timers who work during school hours !!!!

We have to do housework, etc. with child underfoot, I think we need a special sub catergory.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/02/2012 13:23

By the way, I am a SAHM so that someone else can have my old job and work rather than claim JSA. I'm contributing personally to getting those scroungers off their benefits...
I'm charitable like that

Meanwhile I sit at home and MN all day while my DS occupies himself. Except now, while he's asleep in bed with my DH (who's working nights)

kerala · 08/02/2012 13:23

I am thoroughly confused would define myself as a SAHM but actually make quite a lot of money by being a SAHM. Can I therefore have a foot in both camps?!

LoonyRationalist · 08/02/2012 13:23

"We're supposed to throw the buns" Honeydragon, I've always suspected that on MN it would be more a fight to get to the best ones rather than the wastage that would be caused by throwing..

PosiePumblechook · 08/02/2012 13:24

Fat people stop eating thread?

OtterNonsense · 08/02/2012 13:25

I' m in Tee's sub-group, and have decided to throw my buns up in the air and catch them in my mouth.

HTH

PosiePumblechook · 08/02/2012 13:25

Kerala..... Secret please.

PickingAfight · 08/02/2012 13:25

Ok guys. As much fun as our little party is, I must tear myself off and go for a nice walk do something useful around the house.

OP posts:
OtterNonsense · 08/02/2012 13:26

Sorry, that is Tea's subgroup.

lesley33 · 08/02/2012 13:26

proudnscary - How do you manage?? It must be sooo much work managing all those staff

Fillybuster · 08/02/2012 13:27

I thought we had official sign-off from Rebecca Mumsnet yesterday that hun fights were the way forward?

Scheherezade · 08/02/2012 13:27

I'm a SAHM. Today I did the washing up, I'm still in PJs. Go me Grin

OTheHugeManatee · 08/02/2012 13:27

AIBU to think all the fat tracksuit-wearing benefit scroungers on DLA should walk to school so there is room for me to drive my DC in my giant SUV? It is so inconvenient having to drive over their mobility scooters all the time.

sunshineandbooks · 08/02/2012 13:29

WOHASAHM (woe-has-am]
definition: mother who combines part-time work with caring for her children at home.

For TeaOneSugar and Kerala Wink

PickingAfight · 08/02/2012 13:30

Latsia -

more bored then anything else

OP posts:
PosiePumblechook · 08/02/2012 13:32

Woe has am....

Is that Mandarin?

Denj33 · 08/02/2012 13:34

AIBU to wonder how dissatisfied people are with there own lives if picking at other peoples decisions make them feel better?

Work outside the home, be a stay at home parent, whatever you like just as long as it makes you happy

SAHP vs WOHP, the only reason to bring it up is cos you personally feel you have made the right decision and want everyone to validate that, just leave it alone

If people want to make lists, it's all good
Mine would be quite boring really
(but I'll tell u if u want :)

Jins · 08/02/2012 13:34

I'm dressed Grin

So where do the buns get thrown before I start working at home?

NormanTebbit · 08/02/2012 13:34

I'd love a good iced finger right now.

Where's Xenia?

OtterNonsense · 08/02/2012 13:35

Now I feel stoopid. I've been pronouncing it 'woe ha sam' all this time.

Denj33 · 08/02/2012 13:35

Does anyone remember pink iced buns?
They were lovely, haven't seen them for ages tho

NormanTebbit · 08/02/2012 13:36

Being part time is a bit like being a liberal democrat in mumsnet political terms don't you think?

NormanTebbit · 08/02/2012 13:37

I also like an iced Do-nut from time to time.

stopthinkingsomuch · 08/02/2012 13:38

You need to add "I have more children and you have just the one" or "I have one and it's harder than 2/3/4" etc to the list to debate.

Sometimes we all need to pat ourselves on the back for just getting up and getting through the day and other days we need a pat for getting x y z done. There will always be someone that does more or less than you!

TheBluehoneyDragon · 08/02/2012 13:38

The only confectionary you should throw at ceiling is the little disc of orange in Jaffa cakes it sticks and holds in an extremely pleasing fashion. And also acts as a pleasant surprise for the homeowner when it falls of three months later.

"WTAF is THAT!!!!!????" they scream in happy delight at its discovery.

I highly recommend everyone try it at least once.
