How often do you eat out (not including McDonalds!)?

Once a month now we are watching our spending, and that is using my tastecard or vouchers for the chain restaurants that are always flying around. Prior to our self imposed budget cuts we would have takeaway or eat out once a week, but alway using special offers or vouchers etc so not spending a massive amount each time. Usually go for special, ie expensive meals on my parents birthdays or big get togethers with friends which are usually annual so we know in advance it's coming!

JingleMum · 07/02/2012 19:11

i go to costa/starbucks about once a week with DD (is that classed as eating out?)

i go for cheap "mummy" lunches every other week with some friends and our kids

go out with my friends for a chinese once a month

eat out with DH & toddler DD once or twice a month (sometimes just me and DH go)

get a takeaway every weekend (sometimes twice over the weekend) Blush

sheeplikessleep · 07/02/2012 19:18

About once a week ... once a fortnight.

But then I think eating out is something I enjoy wasting money on.

Evenings very rarely. Lunch times quite a bit as my parents like to eat out and they like taking dd with them. I appreciate I am lucky and have taken advantage of this a fair bit to train both children how to eat out Smile

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/02/2012 19:32

Coffee and cake at least once a week.

excuse me while I pause in my typing because Steve Backshall has just dove into pool half naked

Where was I? Grin

Lunch with my mum at least once a week.
family dinners probably once a month.
Just the two of us probably about 4 or 5 times a year.

Hardly ever just me & dh, and it makes me so sad! He eats out a lot through work, he goes to some wonderful restuarants, but without me, he just wants to come home and either cook or be cooked for. I would love to go out for supper, but it just doesnt appeal to dh.

Valentines day is the one night we go out, (or maybe my birthday or his) and ive got to the point now, where i dont want to go, as i know i wont go again until next year!

As a family however maybe twice a month we eat out somewhere, no where posh, and normally as a celebratory dinner as one of the kids have done something fab.

highlight here is either saturday night or sunday night takeaway!

JugglingWithSnowballs · 07/02/2012 19:41

Once a year is better than never FG - And Valentine's day isn't far off ! Go for it and have a great night out !

Ooh, amazing ferret, did you see SB earlier this evening tracking lions - and shots of him topless in the middle of the night < swoons > Blush

Surely should be on after the water-shed !

< hitches up large Mary Whitehouse judgey pants >

... or summat !

Six times a year maybe. Before children, four/five times a week.
Actually, I don't like eating out. As I've got better at cooking, I find it less value for money. Though I do like being treated to a slap up affair by someone on an expense account. That happens about once a year.

nkf · 07/02/2012 19:48

More on holiday. Maybe a couple of meals out in a week long holiday.

JugglingWithSnowballs · 07/02/2012 19:51

I remember going out to restaurants with boyfriends was quite a novelty !

Felt very grown-up !

But it was partly the boyfriends and not just the fact I hadn't been to that many restaurants ( A special occasion thing eg. big birthdays while I was a teenager - before that just on holiday )

Smurfy1 · 07/02/2012 19:56

Ummmm before sprog every friday, after sprog ummmmmm crap you not counting macdonalds i would say its been 1 time in last 2 yrs and that wasn't as just a couple

we will have carry out in flat but thats it

ByTheSea · 07/02/2012 19:59

Now that DH and I are both working full-time again, at least once a week. When we were on a single income, a lot less.

taxiforme · 07/02/2012 20:18

Both Dh and I work, FT DSC are older.
It does get better, trust me.

We go out as a family once a month, usually F and B or Nandos, we might go to the local gastro pub. We eat out all the time on hols.

Myself and DH, prob about once a fortnight, usually indian or local pub, Jamies Italian ect. Myself and friends about the same.

PeppermintCreams · 07/02/2012 20:25

Together? When we are on holiday. Can't remember the last time when we wasn't on holiday.

We occasionally go out separately for friends birthdays. And have a takeaway once a fortnight.

BrandyAlexander · 07/02/2012 20:33

As a family at least once during the weekend, sometimes twice. As a couple, usually once a week but currently breastfeeding so more like once a month. I tend to have 2 business lunches a week and probably two dinners a month. Much prefer the lunches because I can eat something light and don't drink whereas dinner is a calorific nightmare!

aldiwhore · 07/02/2012 20:36

Probably once a year on the satisfactory and worth it front. About 5 times a year in a 'why did we bother' style.

We'd rather stay in and cook for mates, my parents think I'm weird.

BsshBossh · 07/02/2012 20:56

Once a week with DH and DD (generally Saturday lunch) and once a month just with DH (dinner).

MateyMooo · 07/02/2012 21:32

we eat out at a carvery every weekend, but we do a cheap one near us. its mainly becuase we are a large extended family and wont fit into any of the homes for a meal.

I go to london twice per year for the 'ladies wot lunch', but that has been curtailed due to the credit crunch.

i cant remember the last time we went out for an evening meal. cant EVER say i've had a romatic meal with DH.

we are a happy family

LaFilleSurLePont · 07/02/2012 21:48

3-4 times a month. We'll also go out for coffee 3-4 times.
