How often do you eat out (not including McDonalds!)?

Rarely to never. It takes at least 6 months of trying to supress the memory of the last time we attempted to eat out with dd2. Currently we still quiver when last summers holiday is mentioned owing to it being partially spoiled by the way she behaved in restaraunts/cafes.

We are going camping this year instead, we envsion BBQs to be less stressful.

SearchSquad · 07/02/2012 17:06

We eat out 2-3 times a week, out of which only one will be in the range of £30-£40. Other meals out are more budget ones, around £15 (local pub, Pizza Express etc).

dixiechick1975 · 07/02/2012 17:12

Maybe twice or three times a month but not fancy.

Chain pub last night using tesco vouchers - bill was under £20 for 3 including soft drinks and they took the vouchers as full payment.

Costco cafe - £1.25 for a baked spud with filling, Morrisons cafe 2 meals for £8 and kids eat free inc drinks. Indian restaurant sunday offer - 4 courses for £10, pizza hut if they have a 50% off food coupon.

Haven't been to a nice restaurant in UK in ages and can't remember last time just me and DH went out for a meal.

I think tesco vouchers are the best thing ever if you like eating out: ASK, Bella Italian, Prezzo, Strada, Cafe Rouge, Pizza Express, even some pub chains. I eat out maybe twice a week for dinner, often using the vouchers. When I'm paying with my hard-earned it's usually the banquet night at one of the local Indians

Two or three times a week - mixture of posh and trash.

If we didnt have kids, every night without a doubt.

LikeAnAdventCandleButNotQuite · 07/02/2012 17:21

Once a month. Usually Nandos if it's a daytime event, or the pub if we go for a quiz night. Fancy meal at lovely restaurant on special occasions

Usually have a takeaway once a week though Blush

I'm very surprised at how often people eat out!

Once every couple of months about half and half as a couple and as a family.

We used to go more often aswell as coffee and cakes, but these days times are tough and it's few and far between.

DH would go every weekend if he could, I'm less bothered it seems such a lot of money when I could cook something at home.

LittleWhiteWolf · 07/02/2012 17:28

Not very often. Only really for birthdays or anniversaries and special occasions like that. DH and I went out for our anniversary back in October and saw a film as well--a real treat!
Sometimes my mum takes us out for a lunch on a Saturday. We tend to get takeaways more often, but a lot of that is due to DHs hours. Its hard to arrange a dinner out in the week due to him never knowing when he'll be home. We will have lunch out in the weekends more often as if we're out with DD its nicer to stay out rather than pop home for lunch.

This has really put me in the mood for a night out though before DC2 arrives. might have to arrange something, preferably somewhere that kids eat free Wink

pacifist · 07/02/2012 17:30

We eat out for every meal on holiday which is actually too much but if you are in a hotel then you are kind of forced to do that. About once a month otherwise if you mean at a proper restaurant (over £100 sort of figure), but probably twice a week at local Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge or pub, and three times a week for lunch out in a cafe with friends or family. The once a month meals are pretty much birthdays (4 in family), anniversaries and celebrations (good grades, a bonus, piano grade, ran the marathon, driving test pass or something like that). All other meals are cooked by me so I do appreciate getting out of the kitchen now and again, and everyone else appreciates the higher standard of fare in a restaurant as my cooking is not good.

JugglingWithSnowballs · 07/02/2012 17:31

I don't go out with DH as often as I'd like, because of the extra cost of a baby-sitter if we go out together ! But are going out this Friday for birthday meal
(now that DH is back from trip) Often think we should try to go out together once a month and make it a regular thing, but so far it's more likely to be for a special occasion
Went out last weekend with friends. ( Set price buffet at Chinese - Snow was looking pretty in town ! )
Sometimes go with friend to Brewsters with the DCs at the weekend, especially if DH is away with work (pub lunch + soft play)
Sometimes it's nice to go to a show etc. for a night out instead.
I go to a few things like that as well (per year ! Blush)

LeQueen my DM does cats bum mouth if I buy a pre-prepared sandwich: "cheese savoury bap? You could just make your own cheese savoury filling you know...cost you pennies". Yes but DM, I do not have the time, nor the inclination to stand and grate a pile of cheese on the off chance that one day soon I will want that flavour sandwich.

pacifist eating out every night is my favourite part of being away on a holiday!

NettoSuperstar · 07/02/2012 17:33

Not often, a handful of times a year, mainly for family gatherings.

We are going out for lunch next week (half term) here. We both love fish and it looks a nice drive out.

We might go to Yo Sushi/for Tapas too one day.

I'd love to eat out more, but I live in a small town with nowhere of note to bother eating at.

We eat out approx. once every two weeks, and have food delivered once a week.

RedHotPokers · 07/02/2012 17:35

Once or twice a month with DH and the DCs (anything from supermarket/IKEA to 'gastro'-pub) almost always at lunchtimes.

Once or twice a year with DH in the evenings, plus every couple of months with friends.

Hullygully · 07/02/2012 17:37

Couple of times a week eating cheaply.

Couple of times a month in a decent restaurant.

Going for coffee doesn't count does it? We go out for coffee a fair bit, but it's not really a meal.

That is a shame. Dining out is a really nice experience - good company, good food and no washing up.

Gorran · 07/02/2012 17:41

I wasn't including trips to Costa, Caffe Nero etc., crikey that would bump the average right up. I think we could do with cutting down, actually.
