How often do you eat out (not including McDonalds!)?

MidnightWorry · 07/02/2012 13:42

never mainly because i dont like the food.

there is one restaurant but its a pain to get to.

i enjoy my own food more!

ENTROPYGIRL- thats really sad :( would u like to eat out more?

HipHopOpotomus · 07/02/2012 13:48

I go to a cafe most weekends - coffee or lunch with DD.
Evening meals very rarely - birthdays!

But I am going out for a girlies lunch next weekend & really looking forward to it. It will be long, lots of wine and decadent I hope.

We get the very odd takeaway - maybe 6 a year?

If you'd asked me this 2 years ago I would have said once a week as a couple, and maybe twice a month with the kids. Now - never! Not even at McDonalds FGS! Sad Last time DH went out anywhere was about 6 months ago, when we went to see The Inbetweeners at the cinema. Even that was on Orange 2 for 1. Now we try to have a "date night" on a Friday which entails of us doing our spin on M&S's 2 dine in for £10. We'll buy a 3 course meal but loads cheaper in Asda/Aldi, and cook it when the kids have gone to bed. We usually get to do this around twice a month.

TheFeministsWife · 07/02/2012 14:01

*DH and I went out anywhere

ceebie · 07/02/2012 15:20

Dolcelatte why do you ask?

roguepixie · 07/02/2012 15:26

Hardly ever ... maybe once or twice a year.

Dolcelatte · 07/02/2012 15:41

Just curious. My eating out at lunchtime has escalated since I started working from home and I have more flexibility. It's lovely to spend time with my daughters, friends, people in the village etc. I suppose I eat lunch out about twice a week, although I agree that there are some wonderful deals around.

I particularly recommend getting a Tastecard - you can have a free trial and you get 50% off or 2 for 1 at lots of places, even quite expensive restaurants. I also go out in the evening with DH and/or friends, although less often. There also seem to be loads of offers on at present at some very smart places - for example, DD and I are going to Pierre Koffman's restaurant in a couple of weeks - 3 courses and a cocktail for £26.

I love sharing food (and wine) with family and friends, it's my favourite way to relax, but was beginning to wonder if I was overindulging. However, it sounds like lots of you feel the same.

Far too much. 3/4 weeknights, always at weekends and most lunches Blush

But I hate cooking and am really really bad at it. I am a vegetarian, DH hates vegetables, it always seems such a faff.

I'm sure this is why my DD is always so good in restaurants though Grin

yellowraincoat · 07/02/2012 15:58

Ignore the bastards zukiecat, I have depression and the more I can get out of the house to do relaxing and quiet things like eating out the better. The fact you're on benefits is neither here nor there.

We eat out a lot. My partner reviews restaurants for a living, so we get a lot of free meals, which is good because we tend to go out at least twice a week. I only enjoy cooking when it's unnecessary as opposed to day to day, we both hate doing dishes and I like to be out of the house, so I do love to eat out.

Pre DS, once a wek or so in the evenings - about twice a week for lunch with work colleagues

Post DS - In 10 weeks we have had dinner out once without him and breakfast out once with him

catgirl1976 · 07/02/2012 16:26

Zukie - life is for enjoying. You get out for meals as often as you can and don't listen to any of those hideous people. Am yet again shocked at what other people mistakenly think is anything to do with them. They must leads very sad lives :(

diabolo · 07/02/2012 16:33

Saturday night pub meals - a couple of times a month
Nice restaurant meals - maybe every 8 or 10 weeks, more if I can manage it.
On holiday - every other night (and BBQ on the alternate nights)

All this eating out with babies... Presume
You mean lunch? (which we do a lot of). But if dinner, how?!

Oh and OP if this is a stealth promo then yabu.

MarleysBra · 07/02/2012 16:40

Sorry I've just realised I've come in with a YABU in the the middle of a big thread turn. It was a comment about why there was a thread on eating out in AIBU. Hope it wasn't misinterpreted.

mummymccar · 07/02/2012 16:40

ILs take us out as their treat every couple of months, apart from that, never. Even birthdays are at home.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/02/2012 16:43

Lunch or dinner - with babies.

Our first wedding anniversary was when DS1 was 4 months old. We were staying in a lovely hotel with a very nice restaurant. Having been assured by the hotel that it was a family restaurant and other people would be eating there with their children, we put him in his pram and took him for a walk until he fell asleep, wheeled him into the restaurant and had a lovely 3 course meal with wine and coffee while he slept.
We went back the following year and he sat in a highchair and ate 3 courses along with us!

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 07/02/2012 16:44

AT least 3 times a week.....far too often it's 7 times a week Blush

I try to say no but i'm always being asked out, protests of skintness only results in friends offering to pay. I have no willpower and a fat arse Blush

catgirl1976 · 07/02/2012 16:46

I think we might go out to dinner for Valentines and DS will probably end up coming with us so that will be our first experience of a baby at dinner.

If he shouts I can stick my boob in his mouth which will work but not sure the romatic couples will thank me so we may go not on the actual 14th for that reason :)

Plus I hate the set menus and mooning people on V Day :)

lurkinginthebackground · 07/02/2012 16:50

About every 5 weeks. this includes with friends as well as dh.
We rarely eat out as a family due to the vast expense and dd2 being quite fussy. the last time we ate out as a family was at Christmas.

Abcinthia · 07/02/2012 16:56

In the past six months, I've eaten out twice. Wish we could go out a bit more.

Gorran · 07/02/2012 16:57

On average twice a week I'd say. One lunch, one dinner.

Sometimes the average will be skewed when I'll also meet friends for lunch/dinner, but I'd say it's around twice a week usually.
