How often do you eat out (not including McDonalds!)?

Oh my husband would eat out every night if he could. He LOVES not having dishes to do afterwards, and no mess made.

We eat out I suppose 2 or 3 times a week but he mentions it just about every night.

"what do want for dinner?" "oh lets go out"

His world is about to come crashing down with the arrival of PFB in 3 months when we will be not going out away from baby for aaaages! :)

I've just worked out how often I eat out and it's far too often, I'd never sat and actually quatified it before!

I often go out for coffee and cake with one or both of my teen girls, we go out as a family at least once a week on an evening. Me and dh try to eat out at least once a week. On top of this I meet friends for lunch or go out with work colleagues either on a lunch break or straight from work.

So as a conservative estimate I would say I eat out 5 times a week Blush

Couple of times a week (not since new year though as I have been on a diet, which is miserable).

Just normal places like pubs or Nandos or Pizza Express. About once a month go somewhere smart with DP, and every month me and DD have a day out where we go somewhere nice for lunch.

mrsjay · 07/02/2012 12:30

and so you should be eating stones Grin mcdonalds indeed whats the world coming too when people can lavish themselves with mcdonalds bread and water for you girlie Wink

JustAddWine · 07/02/2012 12:32

Couple of times a week, and always with a voucher - We love eating out!

HeidiHole I thought the same thing, but DS 15 months loves it too - lots of people to smile and blow kisses at!

Dolce Why do you ask? Do you think you eat out too much or not enough?

Never . Why oh why oh why did I think having a baby would be a good idea....

choceyes · 07/02/2012 12:35

ABout 2/3 times a week. When I have the DCs it's easier to have lunch out with them as we tend me be out all day at least one of my days off. So we have lunch out. We also have lunch out as a family at the weekend. Sometimes just the once, sometimes both days.

In the evening, maybe once or twice a month with the DCs. Hardly ever just me and DH.

On holiday, eat out every day.

RubyFakeNails · 07/02/2012 12:35

Every Wednesday we out as a family somewhere like Prezzos, Zizzis, Pizza Express or one our local restaurants nowhere posh.

Every Sunday have a roast at local pub, the food is sooo yummy but cheap and now we know the usual crowd in there its a nice combo of family and social time.

I quite often go for lunch with clients, or friends as does DH and we regularly eat out on other nights as part of seeing friends etc.

I don't know if it counts but quite often go for coffee and cake when out at the weekend. Suppose we eat out quite regularly but all at relatively cheap places. Its only every couple of months I get to go for a really good meal and thats normally with work!

Birthdays (adults) and Father's Day/Mother's Day.
Sometimes if dh's family come to see us they treat us to a meal although we feel as though it should be the other way round Blush

What we sometimes do is, I'll get some nice stuff in to cook and the kids will kit out the dining table like a restaurant, with background music and everything. They'll make up menus and will play at being waiters for us. They then join us and every time they pop off to the toilet they just miss the waiter who comes to serve us more wine or to ask if we're enjoying our meal - funny that Smile

happybubblebrain · 07/02/2012 12:36

On average once a week, but we never get takeaways.

CloversMama · 07/02/2012 12:36

Blush Probably about 6 times a week. We don't really cook at all at the weekends so will have lunch and dinner out and then maybe dinner out twice again in the week. Most of the time it's nothing special but once a week we try to go somewhere 'nice'. That said, DH is an incredibly fussy eater which limits it a lot.

Francagoestohollywood · 07/02/2012 12:37

About 3/4 times a month

mrsjay · 07/02/2012 12:37

Zukie I do think people are up their own bottoms about benefits and how they expect people to exist and not have a little bit of living it really baffles me how people think , enjoy your mould Grin

SimoneD · 07/02/2012 12:39

Takeway - more or less every Friday
Lunches out (incl occasional sunday carvery)- 2-3 times a week
Evening meals out - prob about 4-5 times a month

choceyes · 07/02/2012 12:39

As well as lunches out at the weekend, we stop for tea and cakes in the afternoon too, a lot of the time. Eating out is a luxury I don't want to give up!

Laquitar · 07/02/2012 12:40

Maybe twice a month.

We never ever have take aways (only supermarket pizza).

Tbh we both have dined out a lot before we met and had dcs so we don't feel we miss out anything.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/02/2012 12:40

Heidi - go out lots when you have a newborn, it is easy. It gets harder when they hit about 18 months, and then harder again when you have number 2.

We go out about twice a month, often lunch on a Saturday as a family or sometimes teatime to Pizza Express or somewhere.
DH and go out on our own about once a year at the moment, but that will be becoming more frequent very soon as the youngest is almost 1 now and could be left for a few hours.

Voidka · 07/02/2012 12:40

About once a month - we go to wherever I can get discount vouchers on MSE. I would love to eat out more but its expensive and we are trying to save.

Beanbagz · 07/02/2012 12:41

Well Dh and i went out for dinner in December and reckoned that was the first time we'd been out by ourselves without the kids and not a work meal for 2 YEARS!
