secondly, mantel clocks go in the middle.
it would be odd and very daft to put it anywhere else - the whole room would be crooked.

if you had not got symmetrical items either side you'd be very odd.

I actually agree with the symmetry, but I would lose the plants and use candlesticks. And 3 photos is too many.

I would go: Candlestick, photo, CLOCK, object, Candlestick. Much more classy .

Our clock in the bedroom is slightly crooked, but that's mainly because it kept stopping and DH didn't want to break it by keep pulling it out to start it again.
It's going to be moved back once it sorts itself out.

I wouldn't be too bothered if there were not matching height things, but if there were a clock I would feel uncomfortable if it wasn't in the middle for some reason.

you have even numbers - that can never be symmetrical.
