sorry nobdie gang - the whole nobdie thing's gone right over my head Confused

Well I dunno why you made a thread about it but yeah I'm the same, I haven't been here long enough to partake, I think!

Does that make me a nobdie?

WorraLiberty · 26/01/2012 18:34

Nope me neither...I don't even know which board they're on.

But why the thread? I don't read the IPOAT one but I don't think I've ever started a thread about it Grin

DozyNosy · 26/01/2012 18:41

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't get it. Actually all of the MN cliques seem to have passed me by. I wasn't in a gang at school so not sure I should be now (other than the antenatal thread). [happy outcast face]

sozzledchops · 26/01/2012 18:52

I'm the sad kid in the corner with no mates, just don't get those threads - do nothing for me.

cantpooinpeace · 26/01/2012 19:07

I clicked most active and there as always was a nobdie thread just wondered if anyone else instantly avoids the nobdie threads like me.

OP posts:
hiddenhome · 26/01/2012 19:12

I just click 'hide' on them because they get on my nerves. Anything cliquey gets on my nerves tbh.

MardyBra · 26/01/2012 19:16

"the whole nobdie thing's gone right over my head"

The Nobdies started about a year ago as a nobodies thread for people who weren't well known/royalty on MN. Nobdie was a typo of nobody that caught on. They're very inclusive, lovely people and are happy to chat to anyone. But the thread is v fast moving, so it takes a lot of dedication to keep up though.

"Anything cliquey gets on my nerves tbh."
In many ways, they are an anti-clique clique, because they were all self proclaimed "nobodies" initially.

Auntiestablishment · 26/01/2012 19:17

I just hide them all. No stress, no bother, no unreasonableness.

MardyBra · 26/01/2012 19:18

The problem is that any group of people on a regular thread can be perceived as being clique-y. When, in fact, they're just a group of people on a regular thread and are generally happy to welcome newcomers.

cantpooinpeace · 26/01/2012 19:31

That was what I suspected Mardy, funny as it probably is I do get bored of seeing them so am off to figure this hiding thang.

If you go into Customise, there is an option to have a "hide" link for threads in Active Convos. Lots of other useful things in there too, like bookmarking where you've got to in a thread.

pranma · 26/01/2012 19:52

Could someone tell me what IPOAT means please.

MissPenteuth · 26/01/2012 20:00

I think someone once referred to "insane people on a thread" and that title stuck, hence the acronym.

There are a lot of topics and threads on MN that I don't read because they're not relevant or interesting to me. I wouldn't read post-natal threads except the one I'm on, for example. But I wouldn't start a thread announcing to everyone that I don't read them either Confused

I also don't really agree with the "clique" label, although I can see why, from the outside, it can appear that way when there are private jokes and everyone seems to know eachother already. But it's really just a bunch of posters who have found a common ground, some of whom have possibly even met in RL. I'm sure it's not ever done purposefully to make anyone feel excluded.

Nobdies are irrelevant. Ignore them in the same way you'd ignore a dead badger that's popped open at the front.

ImperialBlether · 26/01/2012 23:44

I never read them, either.

MardyBra · 26/01/2012 23:44

Hmm at TiggyD

Bearcrumble · 26/01/2012 23:45

I POINT AT TRAINS.

MardyBra · 26/01/2012 23:46

That would be IPAT bearcrumble

sozzledchops · 27/01/2012 00:27

They make my teeth itch and I start to twitch about 4 posts into them, the once or twice I had a look.

Pandemoniaa · 27/01/2012 01:17

The Nobdie threads don't bother me although they seem to be reproducing like incontinent rabbits at the moment. However, I've never been good at that sort of thread (I'd completely kill a "virtual party") but equally, I don't particularly look for cliquey conspiracies either. I just ignore.

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/01/2012 01:27

chill.

i never hide threads unless they are making my blood pressure rise.

i always feel a little left out....so we have nobdies, MN royalty, IPOATS, wolefs, and now the vagines....

i have always been a misfit and i no doubt always will be!

but i dont get steamed up about threads that people are friends on....whats the point in that?

Boomerwang · 27/01/2012 04:16

I'm not fussy either :) Make up your own clique! Born leaders apply here! I'll be first in line when it's ready to go :P

SilentBoob · 27/01/2012 04:22

Jesus Christ are we supposed to be announcing the threads we don't read now? I am NEVER going to get any housework done.

BadNails · 27/01/2012 04:23

I don't think I would ignore a dead badger to be honest. How odd.

The "born leaders"... hmm. Not sure it works. Not even through my sleep deprived haze :)
