On the plus side, at least the threads are clearly labelled.

Honeydragon · 27/01/2012 07:33

Most cliques start up from threads like these

Hairynigel · 27/01/2012 08:05

Oh leave them alone. I've never been part of a quiche but the nobdies seem like a friendly lot. They're harming you, are they? Hmm

ssd · 27/01/2012 08:12

I've been on MN for about 8 yrs and never read nobdies or ipoat, what ever that means

over the yrs there has been threads started that attract certain posters and inevitably it does become a clique

the best one was when a sort of privates site started and only select posters were invited (boak), I forget what it was called but it caused a right stramash, was all very entertaining!

just post and read what suits you, thats the best advice Icould give

ssd · 27/01/2012 08:13

and i dont read the housekeeping thread, forget the name for this, fly or something

again who cares

ssd · 27/01/2012 08:15

private site not privates Grin

that would have been good Grin

have gave myself a right laugh there

FoofFighter · 27/01/2012 08:19

moldies ssd

Can vouch for the nobbers being v friendly after my last wtf is a nobdie thread about 4 days ago - where I categorically didn't say I couldn't be arsed with them all!
I ventured in, it wasn't for me, too many mad ramblings and in jokes which are pretty meaningless to everyone else.

Pseudonymity · 27/01/2012 08:25

'Privates' site Grin. Irritating Person On Another Thread isn't it?

ssd · 27/01/2012 09:25
Grin

its the in jokes that do it for me and the posters who say hi to each other and ask things no one else is supposed to know, well maybe the select few, but anyone dropping into the thread feels like a pork sausage at a jewish wedding

cantpooinpeace · 27/01/2012 09:57

I ain't steamed up people and the reason I started a thread about it was cos I wondered, if like me, others saw a nobdie title and automatically don't read it.
Not cos it's making me feel left out just tired of seeing them and the don't tend to be very interesting.

OP posts:
ssd · 27/01/2012 09:58

i never read them, have no interest, they just make me sigh

LackaDAISYcal · 27/01/2012 10:06

YANBU to not read them, but YABU to start a thread about a thread...especially in AIBU as it will, understandably, raise the hackles of regular contributors to that thread.

CJCregg · 27/01/2012 10:43

OK, I've been sitting on my hands reading this but I can't help myself now.

I am a Nobdie. We are - like the IPOATs, Wolefs, whoever - a group of posters who fell into a thread one day and found that we got on. Friendships have formed and some in-jokes have evolved, but we are harmless and friendly.

It seems to me that we piss people off because we post often and so the threads regularly show up on Most Active. Before I joined, I used to see the IPOATs and various other threads crop up, and just thought 'Oh look, there they are again'. It never occurred to me to be snide about them.

We have debated many times whether we should move to Off The Beaten Track, to stop generating threads like this one. But each time, we decide against, because our ethos is to be friendly and welcoming. If we disappear off to OTBT, many people might be relieved not to see our threads around, but no one new would join, and we thought that would be a shame. So we've stuck around.

I guess if most of MN can cope with odd 'irritating' thread cropping up, we can cope with the occasional Nob-bashing. Grin

YANBU to not read any of the Nobdie threads.

YABU to start another anti-Nobdie thread.

I loathe cliques, but Nobdie is borne out of an idea to be inclusive so whilst I would never partici[ate it doesn't bother me.........unlike Wolef...

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/01/2012 10:59

You seem to have missed the point of the nobdie threads OP?

I wish I was in a clique, or a quiche, or even just recognised but I tend to kill threads instead Sad

MrsYamada · 27/01/2012 11:03

Come over to the Nobdie thread serotonin! Not a clique or a quiche but we will remember your name!!!!
