"Oooh that's not FUNNY"

"Oooh your username is RUBBISH"

"Oooh you SWORE"

"Oooooh you used capitals"

"Ooooh you used ... in a thread title"

"Oooh you have not posted in a way that I have deemed acceptable."

Who died and made you owner of the board? AIBU if from now on every time I see a self-appointed board police on patrol to link to and tell them to wind their necks in?

Hahaha ??

OneHandFlapping · 24/01/2012 13:02

Aren't you hoisting yourself with your own petard a bit there?

What with telling people what they can and can't post and all that?

krustyloaf · 24/01/2012 13:03

Soz that was meant to be a thumbs up... Grin

scuzy · 24/01/2012 13:03

Spot on! bupcakes

i often see these sort of posts and think Hmm or just " oh fuck off its a public forum with no entrance exam and its ment to be FUN!"

myncichips · 24/01/2012 13:06

What annoys me is the "this thread was done before 17 million years ago you should search through the archive before posting". If you're not interested in a thread because it's "been done" don't click on it!

Also don't see what wrong with these: hon, lol, names which aren't little phrases.

Love the link!

Xx (apparently these are not the done thing either which makes me tempted to use them all the time although I naturally wouldn't)

mojitomania · 24/01/2012 13:06

Funny enough I -felt compelled- used "wind you neck in" on a thread this very morning Grin

mojitomania · 24/01/2012 13:07

-felt compelled-

Why didn't my strike through work Hmm

Firawla · 24/01/2012 13:08

yanbu

mojitomania · 24/01/2012 13:08

felt compelled Grin I'm menopausal!

wannaBe · 24/01/2012 13:09

"your thread title is shocking/offensive/not explicit enough

pigletmania · 24/01/2012 13:09

The ones that say that you are entitled to your views as long as you agree with them. And those who say "you should read all the posts" yeh all 32 pages of them, yeh right!

MaMattoo · 24/01/2012 13:10

Don't know. Yabu at some level. I have always found good advice, hilarious entertainment (see pregnancy threads) and straight forward responses to all questions I have asked.
Personal remarks by 'Gestapo' could quite easily be ignored as this is virtual. And some might just be in fun/spirit of it all.
Parenting can't be serious stuff you see!

Helltotheno · 24/01/2012 13:10

Love that phrase 'wind your neck in' Grin You can use that any time on me and I will duly crack up laughing despite my hurt at being told to wind it in, sob

TheParanoidAndroid · 24/01/2012 13:11

Excuuuuse me, I'm not gestapo. I am however part of Trills Thread-Placement Militia and damned proud.

If you can't keep yourselves tidy, someone has to nag you. Just think of me as a kindly mammy telling you to tidy up your room.
Grin

BupcakesandCunting · 24/01/2012 13:11

My only "rule" is unless someone is being shockingly offensive, you either reply in a dignified manner or eff off to another thread.

I admit that I did lose my shit on the abortion thread the other night but mainly because there was one goon on there being inflammatory.

Other than that, live and let live innit?

"Trills Thread-Placement Militia"

Oh Crap.

What is this?

OP posts:
scuzy · 24/01/2012 13:12

agree wannabe.

pigletmania see your point HOWEVER nothing is more annoying that someone posting a rant at the OP when it was retracted 3 pages beforehand.

coraltoes · 24/01/2012 13:13

It is the "your link doesn't work" lot that make my teeth itch. She hasn't pissed on your newborn, she hasn't posted a turd through your door she has just messed up a link.

OR OR "try paragraphs" try fucking off or learning to read without needing a paragraph break to ease your weary brain. Some amazing literature has been written with crazy punctuation, endless sentences and multiple sub clauses. Saramago anyone? No? Too busy reading DM? Thought so.

myncichips · 24/01/2012 13:13

"Trills Thread-Placement Militia"

Those are all words know but put together I just don't understand. Og I'm such a MN novice I'm so gonna fail the MN entrance exam if it is brought in.

myncichips · 24/01/2012 13:16

Coraltoes I agree! James Joyce anyone (good training for stream of consciousness posting)!
