"Oooh that's not FUNNY"

"Oooh your username is RUBBISH"

"Oooh you SWORE"

"Oooooh you used capitals"

"Ooooh you used ... in a thread title"

"Oooh you have not posted in a way that I have deemed acceptable."

Who died and made you owner of the board? AIBU if from now on every time I see a self-appointed board police on patrol to link to and tell them to wind their necks in?

Too right Peachy!

Whatmeworry · 24/01/2012 14:47

I think "racist" is becoming the new top end put down.

Does help to get the Godwin stuff in first in the thread title therefore :o

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 24/01/2012 14:51

That's the exact image I have of them Bupcakes (perhaps not your poster, but raptor packs in general).

Someone says something fairly innocuous and then someone turns on them like that, usually totally misinterpreted what was said (I believe on purpose in lots of cases) and while InnocuousPoster reels in shock and tries to defend themselves RaptorTroll and all the other raptors in the pack are running at them with claws and teeth at the ready, shrieking over something that was never actually said.

BupcakesandCunting · 24/01/2012 14:53

I have been on the end of a Raptor Gang. You'll never win with that sort. I just hid the thread and let them foam themselves into oblivion.

Noones - you have to imagine the last part of your post in a Richard Attenborough voice...

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 24/01/2012 14:53

do you know what, though, bupcakes, i think this is bullshit on your part. if you are all about freedom of expression then you also have to allow that other people will feel differently to you. posting your list of things people shouldn't do or they'll get on the wicks of your and your new 'sign here if the gestapo are pissing you off' chums is every bit as oppressive, if not more so.

if you're 'live and let live' then that has to go for everyone.

BupcakesandCunting · 24/01/2012 14:55

But but but...

If the whiners just let everyone get on with what they liked then people like me wouldn't have to moan about it.

So it's all their fault, really.

Yes it is.

It is.

Never heard you swear before, Aitch.

Wahwahwah - I was typing it with his voice in my head and a mental image of myself in khaki shorts and a pith hat Grin

Whatmeworry · 24/01/2012 15:01

I prefer "harpies" to "raptors"

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 24/01/2012 15:04

but it's only because you don't like it that you characterise them as whiners. some stuff isn't funny, some usernames are rubbish, some swearing is attacking, some capitalisation is... no, you've got me, no idea what the problem is there, some language is insensitive in a thread title and very often people post in ways that others find unnacceptable. in fact, without that level of tension there is no debate or discussion to be had.

SaltireOShanter · 24/01/2012 15:05

I also think there are a lot few mumsnetters who seem to get offended quite a bit.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 24/01/2012 15:05

I'm not giving up the pith hat and khakis.

I have no idea what to wear to talk about harpies.

They're Raptors

I am very offended that you should thing they are raptors when any fule no they are quite clearly harpies! I shall now link to all the websites that agree with me, demand you apologise, and see you off with a PA hth smiley.

hth :)

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 24/01/2012 15:17

I shall set my raptors on you and see you off with a passive aggressive hth smiley and a love. Love.

hth Smile

wahwahwah · 24/01/2012 15:22

I think harpies are bare-breasted. With Brunhilda helmets. Well they are in my book anyway.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 24/01/2012 15:25

Yes, well, see. It's far too cold here right now for me to go about bare-breasted, although the Brunhilda helmet is appealing to me.

They can be harpies when the weather warms up.

OldMumsy · 24/01/2012 15:27

Threads always descend to accusations of racism, it's the law. Grin

wahwahwah · 24/01/2012 15:27

For goodness sake, youre in Yorkshire. Have you not seen what the sad pony lady is wearing?

PoppadumPreach · 24/01/2012 15:29

is Bupcakes point not aboutapparent "ownership (rather than her specific examples)??

there are threads i have come across, either as a lurker or a participant, where there are people who seem to think they hold more sway than others and have a right to call troll, or nazi, or racist or just generally tell someone to fuck off.

i do not believe anyone has a right to do that, whether it be a old-timer or someone on their first post.

the hysteria generated on some threads, whilst often highly amusing, is quite mind-blowing.

I do love the professionally offended however - bless them.....

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 24/01/2012 15:29

Yes but she's only 28. I am aged. I am 37 and shall never ride through Paris in a sports car even though the wind is warm.

These youngsters are far more robust than I am. And I believe that PVC sweats, that's got to be helping her out.

wahwahwah · 24/01/2012 15:31

I think we have established that the may by a little bit older than 28.

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 15:34

I started a thread yesterday in Site Stuff along these lines. Well, it was things I'd ban and it covered off most of this stuff Grin

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 24/01/2012 15:34

No, she is 28. That's what (almost) bare breasts and Yorkshire weather can do to a 28 year old who has to stand outside Tramps on New Years Eve. She looked 10 years younger when she joined the queue, the bouncers only saw her after she'd been waiting awhile in the cold and the damage was done.
