Many moons ago (so far back I doubt even the most hardcore of Nobdies will remember me) there was a thread in Chat regarding being a MN Nobody. I posted on that thread and in my drunken sleepy state, typed Nobdie instead of Nobody.

It somehow took off from there and the Nobdies were born.

I have tried a couple of times to read the Nobdie threads but have never got beyond the first page.

I found them sorta surreal and, ahem, a bit dull really. Probably because I don't get the joke and hence don't find them funny.

It just seems to be posters parachuting in, , and offering each other G & Ts ad infinitum...

I'm sure they must be fun for those who enjoy random and inane posting but I can't see the appeal.

Can anyone explain why they seem to be so popular...

I feel quite protective of the Nobdies - they're a lovely bunch and I have no qualms that my typo spawned a quiche. The minute the all start saluting David Cameron and sacrificing small children, I'll step in and claim Copyrights.

I woke up wide awake in the early hours of the morning wondering WTF an IPOAT gel was the other night

I'm taking sleeping tablets, I'm blaming those. Very freaky, couldn't get back to sleep for wondering what IPOAT stood for, I still don't know.

Random and inane is good. We can be funny, serious, lighthearted, supportive, random, inane, sarcastic, welcoming, thoughtful, intellectual, stylish, retro, etc - like most real people.

Not connected to Nobdies but I think the principle of the group is the same.

I think I just don't get it and probably never will.

I don't really enjoy listening in to other people's conversations in pubs you see.

But I don't have anything against you Nobdies and am willing to concede it is my loss.

I didn't know what IPOAT was either, but assumed it was similar to POAS.

So, I deduced it could have meant 'I piss on a...' what? a towel? tampon? torch? telescope? tandem? tart? tit?
