To think that DH was being a weirdo about what happened last night?

Ok....Woo warning...I was in bed with DD2 aged 3 last night...in Mine and Dhs room....he's broken his hip and sometimes sleeps on the futon in the spare room as he feels safer....(I'm a bit kicky)

SO....I was paranoid about not waking up to get DD1 off to school on time so had a restless night...when you keep wakng up in the small hours...

It must have been around 4.00am when heard CREEEEEEK like our door opening...it was very close...IN the room this creak...it was half dark and I thought "Oh the wind has pushed open the door" then DD went very stiff and said "What's that?"

So without opening my eyes I said "Just the wind" there was a pause and she said "I'm frightened" and I mumbled something like "No...it's fine...its just the wind opening the door"

And she said

"But someone black has walked into the room"

And I thought "EEK" so I said "Just Daddy checking on us!" but kept my eyes tight shut.

After a bit we both fell asleep again.

I told DH when we all gpt up and he shouted at me! He said I was stupid for not opening my eyes...and that I imagined it all anyway.

I never. I was awake. I know I was. Weird thing was that DH said our door was tight shut anyway....AND it doesn't creak! I tested it...tested them all tbh but I know what I heard. AIBU to think DH was scared of our creaky ghost...? And also to ask you all to explain away the "someone black" who walked in?

I frequently woke up thinking there's an intruder (too dark to judge skin colour) in my room. Turned out to be the combination of a too-late cup of coffee, a vivid imagination and a dressing gown hanging on the back of the bedroom door!!!!

Funny thing to shout at you about... Hmm

Olbasoil · 09/01/2012 11:53

Not at all helpful and I'm very sorry but.............

I'd move today !

ChitChatInChaos · 09/01/2012 11:53

You lay there and didn't open your eyes???????!!!!!!!! Sorry, can't move beyond that I'm afraid.

ISayHolmes · 09/01/2012 11:55

I have no idea why he shouted at you! Why would something like this warrant shouting? Very ott reaction to being told this, and quite unnecessary. He's being silly :)

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 11:58

I was scared chaos

ShatnersBassoon · 09/01/2012 11:58

Really? Something so spooky occured that you have been thinking about it today and told your husband about it, yet you managed to keep your eyes closed and come up with a plausible explanation to keep your daughter calm and went back to sleep soon after?

Confusion happens to everyone when they're woken suddenly. Forget about it.

mayorquimby · 09/01/2012 11:58

So you saw a ghost, but he's the weirdo?

WorraLiberty · 09/01/2012 12:00

If it was windy, the creek was probably a noise outside.

Why on earth wouldn't you sit up and make sure everything was ok?

Even if only to reassure your DD?

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 12:00

Saw nothing mayor

OP posts:
BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 12:01

I was frozen with fear worra

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 09/01/2012 12:03

Fair enough but my instinct would have been to protect my child even though I would have been scared too.

Did you open your eyes eventually? When the fear passed?

Runoutofideas · 09/01/2012 12:12

If you were frozen with fear, how did you just fall asleep again without checking everything was ok? Did dd remember having the conversation with you this morning? If not, maybe it was just all a dream?

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 12:14

Well it took me a while Runout! it wasn't immediate! I didn't ask DD about it this morning because I didn't want to remind her if she'd forgotten...I thought she'd bring it up if she wanted to...

ArtVandelay · 09/01/2012 12:14

There is a phenomenon where if you get woken suddenly but you don't really wake up you can see dark looming shapes coming towards you. I can't remember its name.

Some people think its the devil and some people think they are being abducted by aliens. Its real - I promise! I just can't remember its name.

ArtVandelay · 09/01/2012 12:15

I don't mean its really the devil... I mean its a brain/sleep thing. I explain this very badly, sorry.

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 12:16

worra I kind of knew there was no human in the room...you can sense it you know? But I was afraid to look in case there was somethng else...I never opened my eyes no....I lay there for a good while...then I woke up and it was morning.

Hmm
Runoutofideas · 09/01/2012 12:17

So you still didn't open your eyes, once the "man" had gone, while you were going back to sleep? So you don't know if the door was open or not? I think it was your half awake mind playing tricks on you. Think it was odd of your DH to shout at you about it though....sure it wasn't him creeping about in the night for somestrange reason and now he's trying to deny it...?

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 12:17

Thats interesting Art I gues the creak was something ouside...it must have sounded like it was in the room...DD might have imagined seeing something...but there DOES seem to be some irritation displayed by sceptics towards people like me who have a tendency to be a bit woo.

Sleep Paralysis, i think its called?

SilentBoob · 09/01/2012 12:18

I think you need to start opening your eyes to assess the threat of midnight hoards of ninja axe murderers before you can reasonably accuse other people of being weirdos.

Beachedbabe · 09/01/2012 12:20

Sounds like a night terror to me, I've had similar, especially when not sleeping well eg, I was asleep on sofa having restless night, I could hear someone trying to get in the front door but couldn't open my eyes or move, just lay there frozen with fear- I don't think it actually happened but it seemed so real at the time.

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 12:20

wtf is the Hmm meant to be kreecher it's so lacking in imagination to just pull a hmm at someone instead of explaining yourself!

run I don't know if it was a man...DD said "Someone" I also never said anyone had "gone".

I didn't know if the door was shut but DH assured me it was when he went to bed in the spare room at about midnight. He DID actually suggest it could have been him though run....he's on morphine...he wondered if he'd had a wander in the night somehow aand not known about it...could morphine make someone do that?

ArtVandelay · 09/01/2012 12:21

Thats it Zelda

Its repsonsible for a lot of alien abduction experiences (although it doesn't explain why a lot of 'abductees' complain of intrusive alien probing Grin )

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 12:22

She was awake though Art she clutched me.
