to think that people who don't put any weight on during the Christmas period are not normal?

I have put on about 3Kg and I feel miserable. Come the New Year and I'll start a diet, like I do every new year. Pathetic I know, but normal, right??

I've put on half a stone.

Rachie80 · 30/12/2011 23:52

I know this is a lighthearted but I don't. I love my food but I do watch my weight.

winnybella · 30/12/2011 23:53

I didn't put on anything, oddly. I think it's because we went to MIL's for 5 days and she fed us a very sensible diet. Now that I'm back at home, it's a different story, as have all the chocolates etc left over Hmm

marriedinwhite · 30/12/2011 23:54

I haven't put on any. I put on half a stone before Xmas on crutches for five weeks and unable to move about and exercise. I have been so careful so as not to put on any more.

The diet starts on Sunday - Dukan, Atkins, or even old fashioned Scarsdale - what shall it be. I am delightfully three pounds heavier than when I was 41 weeks pg with dd.

Oh poo!

I have lost weight...sorry Blush

openyerlugholes · 30/12/2011 23:55

I have put on at least 4lbs. Have enjoyed every mouthful and won't beat myself up about it as will rectify the damage soon.

Some people are naturally prone to putting on weight. Others are not. Who is to say what is normal?

PiratecatClaus · 30/12/2011 23:56

i am prone to weight gain but find i put my weight on between now and feb. mind you haven't got on the scales yet.

upahill · 30/12/2011 23:56

I haven't put any weight on (got plenty to lose though!!)
I've been swimming, hill walking and weight lifting this week as well as doing core work.
I've still had the obligatory chocolate orange, bottle of cava and several roast dinners as well as hosting a brill cocktail party. We have been out for a mega meal tonight.
hoping to go running tomorrow but will certainly be swimming and weather permitting get a 10k bike ride in.
Partying tomorrow night!!!

Toddlerone · 30/12/2011 23:57

I started eating crap mid December, what with all the celebrations and stuff. I stuffed myself with chocolates and justified it by thinking that everyone else was doing it too. However, I have seen a few mums from school around and they look great, so I'm dreading the school run next week [super vain emoticon].

I know this sounds weird but I don't put weight on at Xmas. If anything, I lose it.

I don't like chocolate (well ok- I like chocolate for about an hour, once a month).

I don't eat Xmas dinner unless someone else has cooked it. If I cook it, by the time it's done I've inhaled so much, I feel like I've eaten it three times over.

I'm not at work. I'm not up so early that I'm desperate for something to eat by 9.30, I'm not tied to 'canteen hours', and I'm not burning anything off.

FreudianSlipper · 31/12/2011 00:02

i never used to and would eat loads of crap

now i do. i have just stuffed my face for the last 3 weeks and i am surprised i have only put on around 5lb had to buy some new jeans today as all my others (at least 12 pairs) are too tight, some have not been worn for a year or two

molly3478 · 31/12/2011 00:02

No I dont think its that different to a normal time really I just have a roast dinner and a couple of chocs

Toddlerone · 31/12/2011 00:04

I'm weak...

SubordinateClaws · 31/12/2011 06:39

Not everyone is a glutton.

Robotindisguise · 31/12/2011 06:47

I didn't when I was younger despite inhaling Quality Street. I probably have this Christmas but I'm not going anywhere near the scales just yet!

3kg is quite a lot though - it could just be retained water because of a fattier than usual diet. Drink lots of water and eat chicken and salad etc for a couple of days and see where you are.

GentleOtter · 31/12/2011 06:56

Our entire family has lost weight thanks to an evil d&v bug and nobody is able to face food.
I have given all the fat and butter to the birds as it was making us sick just looking at it.

waitingforalittlelamb · 31/12/2011 06:59

I thought you were meant to gain weight at Christmas, extra insulation for the winter months, right??

I always do, and then diet for summer, having said that, being 5 months pregnant means I've actually gained hardly anything as not allowed to drink :(

Toddlerone · 31/12/2011 07:28

So AIBU to dread the school run because I look so porky?!

OP posts:
Foxinsocks · 31/12/2011 07:33

I always put on weight. For me it's the alcohol. I don't drink v much at all during the year but at Xmas time I allow myself the champagne and the spirits and the wine and I just pile the weight on.

Anyway that's what a lean January is for!

OTheHugeManatee · 31/12/2011 08:38

I haven't put on weight. I've eaten and drunk more but been running most days.

Mrsrobertduvall · 31/12/2011 08:41

Not me.
I've been to the gym every day. and don't like Christmas food.

Damn all you smug bastards who havn't put on wieght or even worse; lost it! I jest but I am definately a bit podgier than I was before. I did manage to loose a lot of wieght this year by doing Jillian Michaels shred stuff and a sensible diet. I shall be putting the remains of my delicious Christmas cake in the freezer.

TheBolter · 31/12/2011 08:54

I'm naturally slim but still I've gained 6lbs. OK, I've maybe eaten a little more than normal at times but I've also been pretty restrained too to balance those times out. I did start on Cerazette before Xmas and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it as I've ben eating carefully the last few days and have so far lost none of the weight Sad.
