to think that people who don't put any weight on during the Christmas period are not normal?

I have put on about 3Kg and I feel miserable. Come the New Year and I'll start a diet, like I do every new year. Pathetic I know, but normal, right??

I lost 4 lbs Shock

I know what you mean...and actually the more we stay home, the more we want to in this house.

I'm lucky to have everything fairly nearby so I choose not to drive.

I think if we owned a car, it would be too much of a faff to walk anywhere Blush

wildfig · 31/12/2011 13:47

I've barely eaten for the past week because of a foul cold that's killed off my tastebuds and appetite. I don't think I've lost as much weight as I deserve to have done, given that I've been watching other people pile into cheesecakes and chocs and dauphinoise potatoes while I've been toying listlessly with a bowl of bran flakes. Xmas Angry

WorraLiberty · 31/12/2011 13:58

Same for my 12yr old DS wildfig

He's been really ill and unable to eat over the entire Xmas period. He's got a mouth and throat infection now, though it's clearing up...probably just in time to go back to school next week Sad

i have put on 3 lbs

but i have enjoyed every single mouthful of food / alcohol and will be back to normal as from monday so i am sure they will soon drop off.

ReindeerBollocks · 31/12/2011 14:07

I've not really altered, but equally I don't own scales so that I can avoid checking.

I eat crap alongside nice and healthy things so I normally just hope it balances out.

I ALWAYS lose weight at Christmas as i find the amount of food available quite off -putting .
I also don't drink alcohol, so that helps with the weight maintenance.

marriedinwhite · 31/12/2011 14:26

My 13 year old dd has been inhaling chocolate, cake, cheese and biscuits, and J20, etc. She is abnormal. 5'4", 7st 8lb. Not a pound, not a 10th of a kilo, zilch. ...and the long blonde hair seems to have grown another inch. I don't know how I have highlighted all the commas yellow.

motherinferior · 31/12/2011 14:27

Oh yes, I am a small fat fatso at the moment Grin

I have at least resumed swimming - did 60 lengths (my usual) yesterday and the day before, and took DD1 today (so only 30). I have kind of resolved not to drink in January. Ahem.

Also DP's cooking - and he has been doing most of the cooking - doesn't tend to feature veg as a major food group Grin.

2lb but I weigh 8 stone normally so I can feel it. Went on an hour and a half run this morning and have given away the Christmas chocolate.

tanfastic · 31/12/2011 14:44

I daren't weigh myself but I've def put on weight. Can't stop bloody eating though. Have decided diet starts 10th January.

TapirBackRidersJinglyBells · 31/12/2011 16:06

You def don't have to eat around the clock to put weight on over xmas, the difference in diet takes care of that easily enough.

I've lost a couple of pounds, mainly because we've got more food in the house that I cannot eat.
I'm on an ultra-low fat diet because of chronic pancreatitis, and would probably be the size of a house if I wasn't, as I also have hypothyroid problems.

My dd is 14, 5'10 and a size 6, despite eating everything in sight.

inspireme · 31/12/2011 17:45

Have lost a pound but that's down a mostly gluten and dairy free diet, so that rules out most nice Christmas food! Other than that id prob have put on.

Popbiscuit · 31/12/2011 18:00

Not a pound...and I'm not naturally slim. I run every other day and am also really hyper about eating healthy food all the time and won't deviate from that during the holidays. I will have a glass of wine but Christmas dinner would be turkey, veg and salad ( no stuffing, mash etc.) and fruit or nuts afterwards. When we go to MILs etc. I say no to the ham and scalloped potatoes and have salad, bread or fruit...also carry around things like almonds etc. to fill in the gaps. All my relatives are bloated and obese have diabetes and lots of other health issues most probably related to their awful diets and lack of exercise so I am really careful.

I used to just eat everything but it made me feel awful so now I've decided it's just not worth it and I honestly don't crave those things anymore.

pointythings · 31/12/2011 18:20

I've been losing steadily since November - for some bizarre reason I have completely lost my appetite for cakes, chocs and other greasy stuff. Christmas has never been a big deal weight wise anyway, I don't tend to eat more than usual even for Christmas dinner and I'm a saddo who likes the sprouts more than the roasties.

My need for chocolate is psychological - as long we have it in a cupboard somewhere I don't actually need to eat it, I just have to know it's there just in case.

This usually works, until DH discovers my stash.

I don't drink more at Christmas either, I hate hangovers.

HazleNutt · 31/12/2011 19:10

I always lose weight. I'm vegetarian so usually I can eat..hmm..well.. sprouts, if lucky.
