to expect a car of the same value as DH. He thinks not and I am sad. Mostly I feel sad because it is like he feels I am worth less Sad

Tis the season, so in the spirit of trying to be helpful, the new range rover evoque has just come out, is very pretty and is at the bottom end of the price points compared to a rr sport. Also Audi are bringing out a q3 which is also targeted at the same price band and is also a lovely thing to behold.

Xmas Blush And there was me thinking RR stood for Rolls Royce! I must admit I was wondering how that would cope with snowy county lanes!

Poor clam! Xmas Grin
Actually I've just remembered that one winter when I was late teens and still lived with my parents down little hilly lanes we had a snowy winter that went on for months and the council ran out of salt. I had a Mk1 Ford Escort at the time and my dad's advice was let a bit of air out of the tyres and stay in the highest gear possible.

Suffice to say I made it home one night - passing three Range Rovers that had been abandoned part way up the hill...

My automatic for 3 miles in SW London will be crap then Fortyplus. Even here though the schools tend to shut when there's heavy snow so it really doesn't make a fig of difference for the school run Grin

When it snows badly (which, assuming you're in the UK is really not more than for week a year, is it, honestly?), borrow his 4x4. The rest of the time, drive a normal, economical car. Simple. But as other have said, there is clearly more to this than cars... sadly.

marriedinwhite · 30/12/2011 12:04

I agree there is far more to this than cars. It's actually quite sad.
