Ruined Christmas - AIBU to want to cry?

Sister came round today to stay for christmas with 2 DN's, husband and dogs. Lovely newly clean house ready for Christmas and what happens? Dog knocks over tree and rips apart decorations my daughter made, that we've had for 5 years. Her spoilt little brats feed ENTIRE BLOODY lamb leg (for christmas eve) to said dog. Her DH and mine have disappeared to the pub, she's gone to bed (MY BED AS HER BACK IS APPARENTLY TOO SORE TO SLEEP DOWNSTAIRS) leaving me with 3 kids a manic dog and a broken in half christmas tree. Now transpires that DN1 has climbed onto the bathroom sink and pulled it from the wall, I had water all over the floor before I could stop it, told them to clean it up only to be shouted at by a 10 year old that I wasn't their mum. I cannot believe all this has happened in 1 day, but I'm at my wits end and I've locked myself in the kitchen rather then deal with all that. :( AIBU to just curl up and cry? Xmas Sad

Wow! Just...WOW! Shock Are the feral children like this at home?

Well done for throwing them out. I hope you're OK.

loopsylou · 23/12/2011 16:57

Thanks guys :o Not likely to get a plumber for a bit seeing as it's christmas but oh well. Happened to get them a v.nice set of dining room chairs to be delivered to their house. Have called company and cancelled Xmas Grin DH said he was getting a bit annoyed at BIL's behavior when at pub as well, apparently he was very obnoxious. :) Feel like gladiator woman now :o

I am relieved and pleased that you were able to cancel their present.

I am guessing the chairs would have lasted approximately one week in their house anyway.

loopsylou · 23/12/2011 17:05

Queenofwands I may just have to do that :)

omg, on the plus side things cant get any worse, and you wont see them again for a veyr long time. wtf not leave 10yo's unsupervised, in my housse only basically supervised today there have been 2 5yo's a 8yo and a 12yo, I would have gone postal if they had done any of that stuff. so Angry on your behalf.

GypsyMoth · 23/12/2011 17:06

Chairs? Were they expecting them? That's a big present.

Glittertwins · 23/12/2011 17:07

Well done, those chairs wouldn't be cheap so plumber costs should be covered? Does your house insurance cover accidental damage or do you not want to make a claim?
gladiator woman is a great name change!

BarbarianMum · 23/12/2011 17:09

Oh good for you!

It might take a few hours to get a plumber but I bet you can. Last year we got one at 10pm on Christmas Eve as that was when our frozen pipes decided to burst (I have to admit I was pretty much weeping with gratitude and may have kissed his feet when he turned up).

V. Shock at your post. I might have climbed on a sink and pulled it off the wall age 10 (I was that sort of a child Blush) but I would have been weeping and apologetic and my parents furious and they would have paid for it.

Have a lovely Christmas, you deserve one!

OnTheBen10DaysofChristmas · 23/12/2011 17:11

Will they have thrown their existing chairs out already in expectation of your gift Grin

theincredibequeenofwands · 23/12/2011 17:11

I also can't rest until I know if they were expecting their chairs.

Did they leave their presents to you?

OnTheBen10DaysofChristmas · 23/12/2011 17:13

Sorry, . Knew it looked wrong Blush

LEttletownofBOFlehem · 23/12/2011 17:16

Well done you! Cheeky fuckers though, not paying. Still, at least you don't have to put up with them staying over Christmas.

scarletforya · 23/12/2011 17:22

Good for you Loospy!

It serves them right.

loopsylou · 23/12/2011 17:22

They asked for them specifically :o And their presents are also being delivered but I'm hoping they'll forget to cancel :D

scarletforya · 23/12/2011 17:24

What did your DH say when he saw the mess they made?

JinglePosyPerkin · 23/12/2011 17:25

Well done [frgin]. Is she always like that? And as for not leaving 10 year olds unsupervised - my 10 year old DS had five other 10 year olds here for a sleepover last week. They were left "unsupervised" for most of the time they were here (I was in the next room BTW, not down the pub or anything) and would have been furious if any of them had done any one of the things your "D" Ns have done.

Just because you're related doesn't mean you have to put up with it. Be strong, don't go apologising for anything - your sister should be the one doing that Xmas Smile.

JinglePosyPerkin · 23/12/2011 17:25

If I could spell Xmas Grin would have been better.

PattySimcox · 23/12/2011 17:27

Am Xmas Shock at the behaviour of you sis and family.

Enjoy lots of Wine to get over the shock

FetchezLaVache · 23/12/2011 17:30

Raising a glass of Wine to Gladiator Woman and hoping that "doing a Loopsy on my sister's ass" becomes part of MN terminology! Well bloody done!

Northernlurker · 23/12/2011 17:31

Any sign of the lamb?
